The soccer odds for this showdown have been out for a while and, as you likely guessed, the Bavarians are favored. They're hovering around -200 to secure all three points. The visiting Citizens could be in for a long night, which is why they're as high as +600 to win in Munich. A draw is around the +375 area right now.
Group D is all but done and dusted. Bayern is in the top spot, having won all five of their matches while scoring 15 goals and giving up just two.
In two home appearances, they've beaten CSKA Moscow and Vikotria Plzen with ease. Will City suffer the same fate this week? If you remember, the Citizens felt just how powerful the Bavarians can be first-hand when they lost 3-1 at the Etihad.
Bayern looked similarly dominant in their 7-0 win over Werder Bremen over the weekend. Let's not lose sight of the fact Pep Guardiola's team was away from home either.
Franck Ribery scored twice in the easy win, while Daniel van Buyten, Mario Mandzukic, Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze also got in on the action. The Bavarians took their early lead through an Assani Lukimya-Mulongoti own goal.
It's simply been an awesome start to Guardiola's reign in control of the defending Champions League champions. One has to wonder if there's even more room for improvement, a scary thought for any upcoming opposition.
It's already been announced that Joe Hart, who has found himself on the bench recently, will be called back into the fold for Tuesday's encounter.
Who knows who else Manuel Pellegrini will decide to rest, but one can assume that Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure may very well stay home.
Don't get us wrong though. The Citizens are still filled to the brim with talent. Just look at the substitutes bench for City's recent 1-1 draw with Southampton and you'll see the likes of Jesus Navas, Edin Dzeko, Javi Garcia, Joleon Lescott, Gael Clichy and Micah Richards. You can bet at least a few of those players will be involved on Tuesday.
There's also a chance David Silva, who's been dealing with a calf problem, will make his return.
Even with that kind of quality to choose from, no secret has been made of the Citizens' struggles outside of Manchester this term. They may have won both of their away matches in the group so far, but those came against weak competition – check out the Premier League standings and you find City has only won two of eight matches away from home.
