Philadelphia Union vs D.C. United : MLS Week 25 Betting Picks and Predictions

Philadelphia Union (13-8-6 SU, 13-11-2 ATS) vs D.C. United (10-9-9 SU, 14-13-1 ATS)

August 24 – 7:30 PM ET, Talen Energy Stadium – Philadelphia

The last time these two teams met back on August 4th, the Philadelphia Union embarrassed D.C. United 5-1. D.C. has gone 1-2 since then, but shown more urgency as of Thursday night were only six points back of the second-place Union and first-place Atlanta United FC. They trail the New York Red Bulls for the last home advantage spot in the playoffs. To say there’s a lot on the line for the United would be an understatement and that’s why they could be just what the doctor ordered as an upset special for this week!

Lines: Philadelphia Union (-227), D.C. United (+490)

Draw (+400), Over 3 (-120), Under 3 (+105)

If D.C. United even ties, they’re still six points out and then likely further down the latter in the congested Eastern Conference playoff race with just seven matches to go. While D.C. has been average at best, going 14-13-1 against the spread, they have been solid on the road, going 8-4-1. Meanwhile, the Union is 7-5-1 against the spread at home and 13-11-2 overall.

Wayne Rooney has been superb for United and Kacper Przybylko has been equally valuable as each has eleven strikes on the season. This is Rooney’s time of year though as he has always been clutch and shown a flair for the dramatic. United will have payback on their mind and they could catch the Union sleeping! D.C. United is worth the value their getting as heavy dogs here and will steal one in Philly Saturday night!

Best bet: (D.C. United +490)

Pick: D.C. United 3 – Philadelphia Union 1
