Moviegoers we have a new Batman, let’s just hope he doesn’t sparkle when he steps into the light.
If you haven’t heard, Robert Pattinson is the new Batman and pinky swear that’s the only “Twilight’ joke we’ll crack – maybe.
Five runs as Edward Cullen certainly has given Pattinson experience with the brooding portion of the Dark Knight’s persona. OK, that’s the last crack.
Word on the street is that it came down to Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult and that possibly there a screen test – maybe in the suit? It that happened, we’re sure Pattinson’s jawline is what put him in the Batcave.
Pattinson has proved himself to be a hot ticket in the indie film market including “High Life,’ “Good Time,’ and “Remember Me.’
On Friday, Warner Bros. sealed the deal to have Pattinson replace Ben Affleck as the studio’s Caped Crusader movie. He’s already has a special Twitter hashtag #Battinson.
“The Batman’ is scheduled to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
Matt Reeves assumed directing duties from Affleck in January 2017. Reeves, who directed the last two “Planet of the Apes’ movies join his collaborator Dylan Clark as producers of “The Batman.
Pattinson was near the top of the list on many sportsbooks as a possible replacement for Affleck, who stepped away from the iconic role in January.
Other possibilities included Armie Hammer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Ansel Elgort, Kit Harrington, Richard Madden, Dylan O’Brien, Logan Lerman, Jack O’Connell, Oscar Isaac, John David Washington, Billy Magnussen, Henry Goulding and Noah Centineo.

We joke that they might need a new Bond sooner than think with Daniel Craig out of commission for a while after ankle surgery follow a fall he took on the “Bond 25′ set.
Some of the also-rans on the Batman list also are possibles for Bond. Well, they both do fill out fancy black suits very well and like driving specially-outfitted automobiles.
On Ladbrokes, Richard Madden (“Game of Thrones,’ “Bodyguard’) is the front runner at 2/1 and/or +300 to play the after-Craig 007. Damian Lewis is the frontrunner on My Bookie at +200.
Madden, however, isn’t ready to buy into the speculation.
“It’s all noise,’ he told Elle magazine. “… There will be another British TV show with another young male actor and then he’ll be the next James Bond for the following two months.’
He is followed by Idris Elba (5/1, +500), whose name has been associated as a possible replacement for more than a year. The man, who is currently People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,’ too, says he’s not a candidate. We doth think Elba protests too much. Also at 5/1 is Tom Hiddleson who certainly proved to be a smooth operator as Loki in the Marvel movies, but Bond? We don’t see it. Apparently, My Bookie does though, he’s favored with Lewis at +200.
Other candidates include Cillian Murphy (6/1, +600), James Norton (6/1, +600), Tom Hardy (7/1, +600), Damain Lewis (10/1), Any Female (12/1), Henry Cavill (16/1, +1600) and Sam Heughan (20/1).
There are nearly 60 names at on the Ladbroke’s list including Charlize Theron (100/1), Christian Bale (125/1), David Beckham (250/1) and Jeremy Corbyn, head of the UK’s Labour Party at 500/1.
