It’s a big night of NBA action tonight, as the league is set to tip off a dozen games this evening. After falling off the horse last night, let’s see if we can make up for it with tonight’s Picks.

Knicks vs. Celtics
The Celtics acquisition of Isaiah Thomas at the trade deadline is going to help them in their quest for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, but in the end I doubt it’s enough with the Pistons playing well and the Pacers potentially getting back Paul George sometime before the end of the season. However tonight against the worst team in the NBA, the Celtics are huge -11 favorites at home, with a total of 196 ½. While the spread for this game looks like it’s way out of reach for either team, the total presents a somewhat better play.

While neither of these teams are offensive juggernauts, lucky for us their defenses aren’t that good either. The problem more than the defenses will be the pace at which this game is played. While the Celtics will try and play fast and loose at home, the Knicks are going to try and drag this game down to a snails pace with the triangle. The Celtics rank 4th in the NBA in pace this season, only behind Golden State, Phoenix and Houston. If they can keep this game going quickly, playing over the NBA odds is going to be a steal.

On top of that Boston is still giving up 103 points per game, with the Knicks giving up nearly 101 per contest. The over is 6-2 in the Celtics last eight games, and it’s 19-6-1 in their last 26 games against teams with winning percentages of less than 40%.

NBA Pick: OVER 196 ½

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":338991, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,227,1096,999996,93,238,123,139], "LineTypeId":5, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Wizards vs. Wolves
The wizards are in absolute free-fall right now, and if they were in the West they might be out of the playoffs right now. Luckily for them they play in the East, were losing nine of your last 11 games only costs you one playoff spot. However after playing ok last night, but losing to the Warriors at home, the Wizards now have to complete the ‘NBA Teams Starting With W’ back to back, as they play the Wolves in Minnesota tonight. In this W Team Trifecta, the Wolves actually come in as favorites for only the ninth time this season at -2, with a total of 203 ½.

As much as I would love to see the Wizards lose another game to shut up all of the Wizards fans here in Washington, I think they are going to pull this one off. They would have won last night against the Warriors if they didn’t turn the ball over 26 times. Even after turning it over so much they only lost by seven points. While they are only 5-8 ATS when playing on no rest, I think they can pull this one off tonight.

While Washington might still be without Bradley Beal tonight, they can still hang with the Wolves. We are willing to place our NBA pick backing them up, in fact. Marcin Gortat has been playing much better after falling off before the All Star Break, and John Wall is going to feast on Ricky Rubio tonight. Minnesota is only 1-4 ATS in their last five games as favorites. Plus against teams with winning percentages of less than 40%, the Wizards are 12-5 ATS in their last 17.

NBA Pick: Wizards +2 at Pinnacle

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":338993, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,227,1096,999996,93,238,123,139], "LineTypeId":5, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
