Demetrious Johnson vs. Adriano Moraes

ONE FC Flyweight Championship Bout

Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 – Live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium

ONE FC will finally make its American T.V debut on TNT, and the main & co-main event features two promising faces that UFC fans will know all too well. Former UFC champions Demetrious Johnson and Eddie Alvarez will take center stage in ONE FC’s return to action (post-COVID). He will attempt to cement their legacies for Asia’s number one MMA promotion.

Demetrious Johnson (30-3-0)

Arguably – but with little backing to counter his legacy, Demetrious Johnson is the greatest MMA bantamweight ever to grace a martial arts cage, and some say, the best martial artist in the history of the sport.

As the inaugural and former UFC Flyweight Champion, disputes with the company saw the UFC let go of one of their greatest competitors in history. A loss to UFC fans became a considerable gain for ONE FC supporters as Johnson continued fighting dominance across the pond. Now, a three-year member of ONE and three contests under the ONE FC banner, Johnson returns to the cage following a year layoff due to covid-19 protocols with the ONE FC bantamweight championship title in his sights.

Adriano Moraes (18-3-0)

For a decade, a professional MMA competitor and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner since a child, Adriano Moraes has made a name for himself amongst the ONE FC roster and is already a two-time flyweight champion since his first championship opportunity in 2014.

Born and raised in Brasilia, Brazil, a strict upbringing led Moraes into the Jiu-Jitsu gym, where he excelled as a submission specialist – earning countless accolades in the sport of BJJ (No-Gi).

Successfully capturing the ONE flyweight championship, he would quickly lose the title but waste no time in reclaiming the belt and is now the defending champion with a lot to prove.

How Can Moraes Win?

As harsh as this may sound, Demetrious Johnson’s skillset’s complexity is going to be extremely difficult for Moraes to handle. Of course, there is always a puncher’s chance or the opportunity to snatch a neck in submission. Still, Johnson is not the opponent you want to face in your first title defense on American network television.

How Can Johnson Win?

If you are a long-term fan of the sport, the name Demetrious Johnson will be highly familiar. He is one of (if not the greatest) martial artist to have ever graced the UFC octagon – and now, his talent is extending to Asian audiences on American TV.

His skill set is beyond flawless, and I still believe that Henry Cejudo did not significantly defeat him to claim his UFC title, and nobody has come close since 2013 (Joseph Benavidez).

I expect Johnson to dominate the fight wherever the fight takes place, be it on the ground or the feet; his lightning-fast reactions and superb countering abilities will leave Moraes wondering what bio-lab this specimen came from.

Johnson vs. Moraes Betting Odds Advice

The best sports betting sites‘ current odds are juiced, but we should expect nothing less when ‘Mighty Mouse’ is in the main event. With that said, some bettors are not comfortable laying huge numbers making Demetrious Johnson your perfect parlay addition for some midweek action.
