Not everyone is shaking with anticipation at the prospect of J-Lo and Shakira as the Super Bowl halftime performers. Some people are never happy, and J-Lo and Shakira already are a better choice than Maroon 5. Right?

Let’s face it, the NFL could have announced The Beatles were some how reuniting to play the Super Bowl halftime show and someone would complain about it.

“So ‘Yesterday,’” somebody would tweet.

“What, you couldn’t get Buddy Holley or Elvis,” another would snark.

The reactions have been decidedly mixed since it was announced that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are playing the big game on February 2 in Miami.

As expected, the performers are thrilled:

“Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl,” Lopez said in a statement.

“I’m so honored to be taking on one of the world’s biggest stages in the company of a fellow female artist to represent Latinos and Latinas from the U.S. and all over the world,” Shakira said, adding that the performance would happen on her birthday.

Among the criticism, were some choice words in tweets from Dee Snider, lead singer for Twisted Sister.

“WTF!? … Once again the great heavy music that rocks the stadiums week after week , game after game is completely ignored. I guess we don’t shake our ass enough,” Snider tweeted.

He did admit that he knows that her isn’t “popular enough for that slot. But Metallica …”

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

My point about this years @NFL halftime show isn’t a slight on @shakira or @JLo, it’s frustration that week after week rock is the go to music during games but gets no respect when it comes to the Super Bowl! And I don’t think I’m popular enough for that slot. But @Metallica...
— Dee Snider (@deesnider) September 27, 2019
"}[/]

Another writer for “The Undefeated” website called Lopez and Shakira “legacy acts” and “safe choices.”

Uncle Luke, a Miami rap pioneer had some sharp criticism for Jay-Z and his entertainment company Roc Nation who this year partnered with the NFL to consult on booking live music performances for the league, including the Super Bowl. He said Jay-Z broke the G-Code. (That stands for gangster, not Google, BTW).

"I am so pissed right now, that I really wanna use some profanity but I got a lot of kids that follow me on Instagram," Uncle Luke said. He said the choice of Lopez and Shakira disrespected “all the African American entertainment in Miami.”

He cited Pitbull, Flo-Rida and Rick Ross as choices he and others in Miami expected to play the game.

Billboard magazine showed support for the choice saying a co-billed show is a “sensible option” an that “teaming two stars with Latin roots is a great fit for a Miami-based Super Bowl.”

The choice also prompted prop bets on BetOnline from possible wardrobe malfunction to guest artists.

Who will show cleavage during performance?

Shakira only cleavage +200

J-Lo only cleavage +150

Both cleavage +300

Neither cleavage +200

OUR PICK: J-Lo only

Will Enrique Iglesias make an appearance on stage?

Yes +300

No -500

OUR PICK: No

Will J.Lo do the Shakira hip shake?

Yes -150

No +110

OUR PICK: Hells YES!

Will Jay-Z be shown during broadcast?

Yes +200

No -300

OUR PICK: Nope

Will J-Lo show butt cleavage?

Yes -150

No +110

OUR PICK: Nope

Will Shakira and J-Lo both sing in Spanish?

Yes -500

No +300

OUR PICK: Most definitely

Will Shakira and J-Lo kiss?

Yes +700

No -1500

OUR PICK: Uh, no. This is the Super Bowl not the MTV Awards

Will there be a wardrobe malfunction?

Yes +300

No -500

OUR PICK: Uh, doubtful.
