Despite being away from Manchester, the Citizens are approaching -300 in the soccer odds, making them the firm favorites. The Canaries are available for backing at a hefty price in the +950 to +1000 range, with a draw listed at +450 or so.
Norwich's forgettable season continued last weekend, as they fell victim to a rejuvenated Cardiff City side in a 1-2 loss.
It was a dream start for the Canaries, who got a goal in the fifth minute out of Robert Snodgrass. After holding Cardiff at bay for close to 50 minutes, Norwich let their composure slip, giving up two goals in two minutes. They never recovered.
For a side still very much in the relegation conversation, it was a tough pill to swallow in Wales, especially since Norwich had racked up 27 total shots, six of which were on goal. They deserved at least a point in all fairness.
The Canaries now sit sixth from bottom in the standings, but don't let their position fool you. They're still only two points clear of the relegation zone, as only five points separate 10th place from 18th place. The parity has been ridiculous this season.
As for Norwich's form at home, they've been good for four wins, four draws and four losses. Though the Canaries haven't been able to score goals at a high rate (11 in those 12 home matches), their defensive efforts (only 11 allowed) have saved them. No doubt they'll have to be at their very best against the mighty Citizens.
It wasn't meant to be for City last Monday as they fell to Chelsea (0-1) at the Etihad. It was the first league defeat at home for the Citizens this season and was the first time in 62 matches they had failed to get even one goal on their own pitch.
Chelsea's tactics worked perfectly and it wasn't as if City was unlucky to lose. They didn't play too well and the result was deserved.
However, playing without their best striker in Sergio Aguero and another one of their most influential players in Fernandinho, the Citzens were certainly not at full strength. Martin Demichelis, a center back, had to fill in and play defensive midfield, and he had a nightmare keeping up with Eden Hazard and company.
Looking ahead to this weekend, at least City's away form has improved significantly over the last few months. They haven't lost in six straight league matches away from Manchester and, during that span, they've topped the likes of Tottenham (5-1) and Newcastle (2-0).
Moreover, one would have to think the Citizens will come out extremely focused after such a disappointing showing against Chelsea in front of the home fans.
Premier League Pick
When it comes to placing our soccer picks, we have little reason to think City won't right the ship with a victory this weekend. It's hard to imagine them losing for the second straight week, especially against a vastly inferior side in Norwich.
There was a lot of chatter about the Citizens' poor away form earlier in the season, but they've done better in that regard recently. They've gone unbeaten in their last six matches outside of Manchester, so they should be able to settle into this match and eventually assert their dominance.
With that in mind, let's recommend a two-goal win for City, which should be available at your preferred sportsbook for a much more attractive price than a straight money-line win.
