New York Red Bulls
In Week 12 MLS play last weekend, the New York Red Bulls (1-3-1 Away, 6 GF-6 GA) suffered an ugly 2-0 loss at Home in Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey to the Philadelphia Union (3-3-7), so this club will be heading out West on a sour note and off of an extremely lackluster performance in which the visitors totally outplayed New York. The Red Bulls (11/1 to win MLS Cup, Betfair Sportsbook) will be no pushover however, and they tied the Sounders, 1-1 in this fixture two seasons ago here in the Emerald City. New York, which began Week 12 play in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, is led in scoring by talented striker Bradley Wright-Phillips (5 goals), Lloyd Sam (3 goals), forward Mike Grella (1 goal), Sacha Kljestan (1 goal) and Felipe Martins (1 goal). But with just one Road Win to date heading in here, the onus will be on the Red Bulls to just try to get out of CenturyLink Field with a Draw and a point—like they did last time—and to gain some valuable confidence after that stinker performance against the Union. Expect 31-year-old Red Bulls GK Luis Robles to be the more tested of the two keepers in this match on Sunday.

Seattle Sounders FC
The Seattle Sounders (3-1-1 Home, 7 GF-3 GA heading into Week 12) will be coming off a Wednesday game here at Home against the 10th-place (Western Conference) Colorado Rapids, and may have jumped into 1st place in the conference. Heading into that game against the Rapids—which we’ve handicapped here at Sportsbook Review—the Sounders, GK Stefan Frei (44 saves, 9 goals conceded) and Defenders Chad Marshall and Tyrone Mears were tied with Colorado for having allowed the least goals (9) in the entire MLS. And in Seattle’s previous (Week 12) game at Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park in Kansas City last week, the Sounders could only muster 1 SOG against the hosts but still managed to earn a point in a 0-0 Draw. So, the Sounders seem to be playing very tight, defensive games and this team must to be considered a legitimate contender to win the MLS Cup (+450 to win MLS Cup, Stan James) this season. Seattle is led in scoring by strikers Clint Dempsey (7 goals), Obafemi Martins (6 goals) and Chad Barrett (2 goals) and those three players had combined for more goals this season (15) than 12 MLS teams had to that point. So what does this mean? Simple. The Sounders are sound both Defensively and Offensively with midfielders Lamar Neagle (2 goals), Brad Evans, Gonzalo Pineda and Lamar Neagle helping be the glue in the middle of the pitch for this Western Conference giant Seattle squad.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
The Sounders (Current Form: WWWLWD) and the Red Bulls (Current Form: DDLWDL) have played it pretty even lifetime in MLS play, with the Homefield Advantage holding form as it often does in this wonderful sport. Seattle is 2-1-1 (8 GF-4 GA) lifetime against the Red Bulls here at CenturyLink Field and the Sounders hold the slightest 1 goal edge over the 9 games they have played (3-3-3, 13 GF-12 GA) in league meetings overall. As mentioned above, when these two teams met in this fixture two seasons ago in Seattle in 2013, it ended in a 1-1 Draw with the Red Bulls‘ Tim Cahill providing the late equalizer in the rain. And this game should probably evolve much like that one did. One thing to remember here is that the Red Bulls will be travelling 2,842 miles west, playing in a Time Zone (PT) which is 3 hours behind them and will be sleeping in hotel beds in Seattle while the Sounders players will have no travel, be playing in their normal Time Zone and sleeping at home in their own comfortable beds. Little things like that add up to advantages, and after the way New York looked against Philadelphia, the host Sounders have to be the pick here at the fair price (-110, Sky Bet), although the Total (Under) actually seems to be a slightly better play for your soccer picks.

Predicted Final Score: Sounders 1 Red Bulls 0

Major League Soccer Picks: Sounders -110 (Sky Bet), Under 2½ (Ladbrokes)
