There are four contenders left in the NASCAR Chase. Who's the best bet for the Ford Eco Boost 400 this weekend? find out who the best contender is.
The list of contenders for the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup has been dashed from eight to four heading in to the final race of the season with the championship to be determined in this week’s Ford Eco Boost 400 from the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon and Martin Truex Jr. are the final four drivers standing as championship contenders so it should be no surprise that two of those four drivers are among our best sports betting picks for this weekend’s finale.
About the Track
The Chase for the Sprint Cup returns to one final 1.5-mile oval for its championship race, and that means we have plenty of numbers to consider when looking at a race that will take place on the most-common track type in NASCAR. The four drivers still in contention for a championship will obviously have the most incentive to find a way to win this weekend’s race and it’s worth noting that one driver in particular has dominated throughout his career at Homestead.
Consensus Best Bet To Win Outright: Kevin Harvick +350
Harvick has absolutely dominated from start to finish this season and no driver has a better average finish on 1.5-mile tracks than the 2014 Sprint Cup champion. Harvick won both races at Homestead last year as well including a furious finish in the final race of the season in which he clinched the title, so he will know what it will take to get the job done this weekend, and he has shown he has what it takes to finish the job. Harvick is Homestead’s all-time leader with a 7.5-average finish, and when you consider how consistent he has been on 1.5-mile tracks this year, there is absolutely no way you can overlook him as the obvious favorite to win this race and celebrate a second consecutive Sprint Cup championship on Sunday afternoon.
Consensus Best Bet To Finish Top-Five in the Betting Odds: Jeff Gordon +1000
Harvick might be the obvious favorite to win outright, but Gordon looks like a great bet to finish in the top-five and he could be worth taking a shot on to win this race straight up. Gordon finished 10th in last year’s race at Homestead, but he led 161 laps and he has won this race in the past, dating back to his victory here in 2012. This will be Gordon’s final race of his career and on top of his desire to go out in style, you have to consider that he has the entire Hendrick Motor Sports team behind him heading in to this race. Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are a pair of quality teammates that can really help Gordon find a way to win this race, and their support, combined with Gordon’s experience and ability, are enough to make him our consensus best bet to finish in the top-five. Bush and Truex Jr. will also be in the mix as the other two drivers that are still in contention to win the Sprint Cup title but Harvick is clearly the best bet to win the race while Gordon should also contend for the victory and at the very least finish in the top-five in the final race of his NASCAR career.
