NASCAR’s Cup Series takes a break from the action this week making it a perfect time to update the futures odds to win this season’s racing title.

NASCAR’s Cup Series takes its second break in the schedule ahead of the stretch run to this season’s 10-race playoff for the top 16 drivers in the point standings. With 15 of the 26 regular season point-race events in the books, 5Dimes online sportsbook has updated its odds to win this season’s Cup Series racing title.

Kyle Busch +350

Nothing has changed since the last break in April when Busch was listed as a +350 favorite to win his second-career Cup Series title. The No.18 Toyota racing team did slip to second place in the current Cup Series standings with 605 total points, but it still leads in the category that counts the most; total wins.

With his recent victory at Pocono, Busch has crossed the finish line first four times this season in a point race. In what has been a dominating first-half run in the regular season, he has been able to finish inside the top 10 in 14 of those first 15 events. Including the four victories, nine of those runs ended inside the top five.

Busch won his first Cup Series racing title in 2015 under the new elimination round playoff format that was first instituted in 2014. He went on to place third the following season in the final standings. With a second-place finish in 2017 and a fourth-place run last season, this is the kind of consistency you can bet on.

Chase Elliott +1100

Elliott is one of my favorite drivers as part of a group of young guns that are changing the face of NASCAR’s Cup Series. Racing in just his fourth full-time season at NASCAR’s highest level, he continues to take the right steps forward to compete at a very high level week after week.

The No. 9 Chevrolet had a breakthrough season in 2018 with three Cup Series victories and a sixth-place finish in the final point standings. Poised to take that next step by getting into the four-driver field for the season-ending championship race at Homestead-Miami, Elliott has his racing team in fifth place in the current standings with 531 total points.

He has pretty much locked up a spot in the 2019 playoff field with his previous victory in the first race this season at Talladega. Elliott has made his way into the top five in six point races so far and he has led a grand total of 403 laps after leading 325 laps in 36 races last season.

Erik Jones +3400

Looking for value at longer odds, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson were high on the radar screen at +2100 odds to win the 2019 racing title. Veterans such as Clint Bowyer (+2100) and Kurt Busch (+2600) also offered some value in their odds. In the end, I decided to take a flyer on Jones as even longer odds based on what this young gun has been able to accomplish so far.

While his No. 20 Toyota is still buried in the standings at No. 18 with 357 total points, Jones has been able to race with some solid consistency lately in his third Cup Series season. Along with a fourth-place finish at Texas earlier in the season, this race team has been able to finish sixth or better in three of its last five point races. This run includes a pair of third-place finishes at Kansas and Pocono. Taking that next step to winning a few races is a big one, but Jones does offer some solid value at these long odds.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Yes or No: Kyle Busch will reach 100 NASCAR Cup Series wins. pic.twitter.com/KCIBkQXQrQ
— FOX: NASCAR (@NASCARONFOX) June 5, 2019
\n\n"}[/]
