The Vancouver Whitecaps will be just what the doctor ordered for the Montreal Impact Wednesday night at Stade Saputo in Montreal. The Impact are coming in on a four-game winless streak and 1-4-1 in their last six matches and new manager Wilmer Cabrera is still looking for his first win after being let go by the Dynamo and being hired by the Impact last week, so the last in the West Whitecaps will be the perfect Elixir.
The Impact is 11-12-4 against the spread overall and 5-6-1 at home. Montreal is an astonishing 18-7-3 on the over/under (that would be a solid play if not for the -200 line on over 2.5), and 7-5 at home.
The Whitecaps are 12-12-4 against the spread and 7-6-2 on the road. Vancouver is 13-14-1 on the over/under and 8-6-1 on the road.
Unlike Vancouver, Montreal has plenty to play for. The Impact (31 points) trail Toronto FC by three points for the last playoff fixture. Saphir Taider leads the Impact in goals with nine strikes and with his skill he should be able to run zig-zags through the porous Vancouver defense.
The Whitecaps come into the match 2-3-1 in their last six matches and in their 3-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes last week, they surrendered a league-record 43 shots and 19 on target. Vancouver has allowed 48 goals this season and with the Impact playing an up-tempo attack because every match is do-or-die now, this could get ugly for the Whitecaps.
