Hope everyone had a great July 4th. The weekend’s not over (thankfully) and we can kick back with great horse racing action and free picks.

It was a big day at Belmont Saturday and we returned to one the finest horse tracks that are currently open. However, we are also taking the road to New Jersey, Oceanport in particular, and see what is happening at Monmouth Park. This track was originally opened in 1870, but pari-mutuel betting was halted in 1894 and it would be 53 years before it returned and it has gone on since in the Garden State.

The Monmouth meet just started on Friday, so everything is fresh. You can be certain to follow some of the action on FS1 Sunday. After two days this week, we have produced 10 exact or better winners and seven others with paid tickets for our horse racing picks.

Monmouth Race: 3

Post Time: 1:42 EDT
Surface: Turf   Distance: 5 Furlongs

Morning Line Favorite at YouWager: #3 Tan and Tight

Backstretch News: For the third day of racing at Monmouth Park, we begin with the third race and we tip the cap to the favorite, Tan and Tight, for its reliable speed numbers of 71-78-79. We also like the combo of J. Bravo and M. Stidham for jockey/trainer. Awsum Roar can do just that and is 8-1-4 (WPS) in 17 tries at these types of sprints. We’ll lock up the first card with Pretti Tricki, who is 2-1-1 in the last half dozen starts in New Jersey.

Horse Racing Picks:  1) #3 Tan and Tight 2) #5 Awsum Roar 3) #4 Pretti Tricki

Longshot Pick: #4 Pretti Tricki (8-1 odds)

Belmont Race: 6

Post Time: 3:59 EDT
Surface: Dirt   Distance: 6 Furlongs

Morning Line Favorite at YouWager: #2 Fevola

Backstretch News: The favorite, Fevola, has a Beyer of 82 in its last race and is out of the C. Brown barn but 2/1 odds are hard to swallow. Three other horses draw our attention instead. We sadly have to put these in order, but an exacta box is probably more prudent. Let’s start with Mister Bobby who has a hot trainer in H. Bond (2-3-1 for WPS) the past eight races and quality jockey in L. Saez. Coach Villa had the best bullet (workout) among 30 horses on June 20th and has Belmont’s top jockey in I. Ortiz Jr. The last choice is Riken, who is 3-of-5 at this distance and can definitely hit the wire first.

Horse Racing Picks:  1) #1 Mister Bobby 2) #7 Coach Villa 3) #6 Riken

Longshot Pick: #5 Tapizearance (12-1)

Monmouth Race: 8

Post Time: 4:10 EDT
Surface: Dirt   Distance: 6 Furlongs

Morning Line Favorite at YouWager: #8 Share the Ride

Backstretch News: Favored Share the Ride is too herky-jerky in terms of performances for us and with 5/2 horse racing odds, you could have a winner or not even making a superfecta ticket. Third place feels right on StR. To #8’s left is Clench and with a pair of 87 Beyer Speed Figures in the past three outings, a second-place finish works. To have its picture taken, we back Kong Style, who makes debut and trainer K. Breen is well-known for working with absentees and new horses for the first time.

Horse Racing Picks:  1) #2 Kong Style 2) #7 Clench 3) #8 Share the Ride

Longshot Pick: #9 Powerfully Built (10-1)

Belmont Race: 8

Post Time: 5:04 EDT
Surface: Dirt   Distance: 6 Furlongs

Morning Line Favorite at YouWager: #8 Tale of the Union

Backstretch News: Time to go right down the list. For the top of the ticket Big Thicket, who’s made great strides (pun clearly intended) on speed with these improving numbers: 69-77-85. One rung down is Tale of the Union, who is from the B. Baffert stable and who blew away 42 other four-legged competitors in previous June workout. Quickflash lacks the speed of the other two but is a solid pick for third.

Horse Racing Picks: 1) #2 Big Thicket 2) #8 Tale of the Union 3) #7 Quickflash

Longshot Pick: #6 Kid d’Oro (12-1)

Monmouth Race: 10

Post Time: 5:12 EDT
Surface: Dirt   Distance: 6 Furlongs

Morning Line Favorite at YouWager: #8 Golden Brown

Backstretch News: The feature race is the $75,000 John J. Reilly Handicap for New Jersey-bred stakes-seasoned foes. For exacta wagering, you can make a great case for Golden Brown and Brother Chub. Both have stellar records at this track and their odds are close to identical at 5/2 and 3/1 respectively. Choosing GB only because of a killer workout 15 days ago. Optic Way is reliable, at a good price of 8/1 and is of two tremendous workouts to close out June.

Horse Racing Picks:  1) #8 Golden Brown 2) #3 Brother Chub 3) #9 Optic Way

Longshot Pick: #9 Optic Way (8-1)

Belmont Race: 9

Post Time: 5:36 EDT
Surface: Turf   Distance: 7 Furlongs

Morning Line Favorite at YouWager: #1 Its All Relevant

Backstretch News: This race has a balanced field with as many as six options to win it appears. With so many having similar numbers, Majestic Dunhill has the most versatility, which makes #6 our top choice. We will follow that up with Front Run the Fed, trusting the preparation skills of trainer C. Brown, whose horses are making cash for bettors. Let’s polish this race off with Penalty, who like his peers can scoot and like #7 has a trainer in W. Mott who is punching winning tickets.

Horse Racing Picks:  1) #6 Majestic Dunhill 2) #7 Front Run the Fed 3) #4 Penalty

Longshot Pick: #4 Penalty (10-1)

See you back here next Thursday with more horse racing picks, Good Luck!
