Let’s take our weekly thumbnail sketch look at some soccer odds and provide some basic handicapping information for each match.

There are nine matches on the MLS Week 7 schedule with seven matches on Saturday and two more scheduled for Sunday with the Portland Timbers and the Chicago Fire both idle this weekend. And one fun matchup on Saturday will see Didier Drogba and the Montréal Impact hosting Toronto FC and Sebastian Giovinco in a Canadian showdown while the New York Red Bulls host Kaká and Orlando City SC on Sunday night in the weekend’s end-cap.

Saturday, April 23, 2016

Who: Philadelphia Union vs. NYCFC
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: PPL Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
When: Saturday, April 23, 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT [Saturday 21:00]
TV: Yes Network, 6abc, MLS Live (US), Sky Sports 3/HD, Sky Go UK, SKY GO Extra, NOW TV UK (UK-IRE), MLS Live (CAN), LeTV (CHINA), LeTV (HONG KONG), beIN Sports 2 HD (PHI)
3-Way Odds: Union -110, NYCFC +240, Draw +260 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -142, Under +110 (bet365)

The Skinny: The Union (3-0-3 [W-D-L], 8 GF-7 GA)—a club with two Home sites, here at PPL in Philadelphia and also Talen Energy Stadium in Chester—can be a tricky team to figure out, but with CJ Sapong (3 goals) and Sebastian Le Toux (2 goals), you know the Union can answer opponents’ goals, thus the lofty ‘Yes’ price (-166, Boylesports) on the Both Teams To Score (BTTS) Prop in this match (The BTTS ‘Yes’ is 3-0 in 3 Lifetime meetings: PHI 1-2 NYCFC, NYCFC 1-1 PHI, NYCFC 2-1).

And the same can be said of second-year club NYCFC, with playmaker David Villa (4 goals) pulling the strings in the Midfield and guys like Thomas McNamara (2 goals), Mix Diskerud (1 goal), Andrea Pirlo and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard to feed. So, the Over is also worth consideration here in the City of Brotherly Love and Bouncing Soccer Balls and Raining Cheesesteaks where the Forecast for Saturday afternoon calls for beautiful Spring Weather: Sunny skies, 67°, Winds N 10-15 mph.

Final Score Prediction: Union 2 NYCFC 1
Pick: Both Teams To Score ‘Yes’ -166 (Boylesports)

Who: Montréal Impact vs. Toronto FC
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: Saputo Stadium, Montréal, Quebec
When: Saturday, April 23, 4 p.m. EDT/1 p.m. PDT [Saturday 21:00]
TV: TSN4, RDS, MLS Live (US); TSN 690 Montréal, MLS Live, TSN GO, TSN4 (CAN), LeTV (CHINA); LeTV (HONG KONG), Eurosport 2 Netherlands (NED), Eurosport 2 Spain (ESP)
3-Way Odds: Impact -137, Toronto FC + 350, Draw +250 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -120, Under -105 (Paddy Power)

The Skinny: Striker Didier Drogba (11 goals in 11 games last season) played last week for the Impact on the friendly Grass of Toyota Park in Bridgeview and scored his first Goal of the season in a 2-1  Montréal win over the Chicago Fire in Week 6 play. The L5 Meetings in this series have seen scorelines of MTL 3-0 TOR, MTL 2-1 TOR, TOR 2-1 MTL, TOR 3-1 MTL, TOR 1-1 MTL, so the BTTS (‘Yes’) in 4-1 and the Home team has 4 wins and a Draw. The Weather Forecast for Montréal on Saturday afternoon calls for Sunny skies, a High of 54° with NNW Winds of 9 mph. So with Chelsea legend Drogba (1 goal), Ignacio Piatti (3 goals) and Dominic Oduro (2 goals), the hosts should get a Goal or two while TFC and Sebastian Giovinco (4 goals) are usually good for a Goal or two themselves.

If the temperatures were about 10-15° (Fahrenheit) warmer, the Over would be a Best Bet but for now,it’s just a strong lean with the most logical play in all betting marketplaces here the BTTS ‘Yes’ Prop. And one simple and obvious thing for MLS bettors: The  Montréal Impact play much better as a team and have higher expectations when the talismanic 37-year-old Ivorian Drogba is in and playing.

Final Score Prediction: Impact 2 Toronto FC 1
Picks: Over 2½ -106 (Marathon), Both Teams To Score “Yes” -150 (Paddy Power)

Who: DC United vs. New England Revolution
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: RFK Stadium, Washington, DC
When: Saturday, April 23, 5:30 p.m. EDT/2:30 p.m. PDT [Saturday 22:30]
TV: CSN-New England, ABC7, MLS Live (US), TSN4, TSN GO, MLS Live (CAN), LeTV (CHINA), LeTV (HONG KONG)
3-Way Odds: DC United +125, NE Revolution +187, Draw +229 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -111, Under -111 (bet365)

The Skinny: Fabián Espíndola (3 goals), Álvaro Saborío (2 goals) and the Black-and-Red, DC United (1-3-3, 7 GF-10 GA) will be facing an enigmatic New England Revolution side unbeaten in its L4 matches, but with just 1 Win in 4 Home Games this season, and the hosts really need the Win and all 3 points here, but the Confidence may just not be there although DCU has won the L2 meetings here at RFK.

The L5 Meetings in this Eastern Conference series (NE 0-0 DC, DC 2-1 NE, DC 2-1 NE, NE 1-1 DC, NE 2-1 DC) shows the BTTS (’Yes’) to be 4-1 in the L5, but the 0-0 scoreline in the last meeting up at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on March 12 probably reflects the type of match this will be and this could possibly end up being another scoreless Draw despite the perfect Weather in the Forecast (Intervals of Clouds and Sunshine, 73°, Winds N 10-15 mph) for the DC area.

Final Score Prediction: DC United 0 NE Revolution 0
Pick: Under 2½ -105 (Coral)

Who: Columbus Crew vs. Houston Dynamo
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: Mapfre Stadium, Columbus, Ohio
When: Saturday, April 23, 7:30 p.m. EDT/4:30 p.m. PDT [Sunday 01:30]
TV: KUBE TV - Channel 57, TWCSC-OH, CW Columbus, MLS Live (US), Sky Sports 3/HD, Sky Go UK, KY GO Extra (UK), MLS Live (CANADA), Sky Sports 3/HD, Sky Go UK, KY GO Extra (IRELAND), LeTV, Boss Football Channel (CHINA), LeTV (HONG KONG), Boss Football Channel (TAIWAN)
3-Way Odds: Crew -133, Dynamo +320, Draw +320 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -150, Under +110 (Paddy Power)

The Skinny: The Crew have gotten off to a horrible start (1-2-3, 6 GF- 9 GA) and will really need the Win and the 3 points here at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus on Saturday where the Weather Forecast is calling for a Beautiful Spring Day with Sunny skies, a High of 67° and N Winds 5-10 mph.

The L5 meetings in this series (HOU 1-0 CLB, HOU 2-2 CLB, CLB 3-0 HOU, HOU 1-0 CLB, CLB 2-0 HOU) have resulted in 4 Clean Sheets and the Home side going 4-1-0, so with Kei Kamara (3 goals), Justin Meram (1 goal) and the host Crew in a must-win spot vs.Will Bruin (3 goals) and 10th-place (Western Conference) Houston (1-2-3, 13 GF-13 GA)—who are winless in their L4—backing the desperate hosts is the logical approach as Columbus hasn’t lost to the Dynamo here since 2007 when those Big Plastic Balls polluting our Oceans were much. much smaller.

Final Score Prediction: Crew 2 Dynamo 1
Pick: Crew -117 (William Hill)

Who: Colorado Rapids vs. Seattle Sounders
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, Colorado
When: Saturday, April 23, 9 p.m. EDT/6:00 p.m. PDT [Sunday 02:00]
TV: Altitude, Q13 FOX, MLS Live (US), MLS Live (CAN), LeTV (CHINA), LeTV (HONG KONG)
3-Way Odds: Rapids +120, Sounders +200, Draw +229 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -111, Under -111 (32Red)

The Skinny: Luis Solignac (2 goals), Marco Pappa (1 goal) and the Rapids (4-1-2, 7 GF-5 GA) had a good week, beating Sporting Kansas City on the Road (2-1) and the New York Red Bulls at Home (2-1) in a 4-day span. The L5 Meetings (SEA 0-1 COL, SEA 1-0 COL, COL 1-3 SEA, COL 1-4 SEA, SEA 1-0 COL ) in this series have seen 2 Clean sheets and the Road team prevailing in 3 of the L5 matches so Clint Dempsey (1 goal) and the Sounders definitely have a shot at the victory here in suburban Denver on Saturday night where the Weather Forecast five days out (Tuesday) for Commerce City on Saturday night  is: Few Clouds, a Low of 47° and SW Winds of 10-15 mph. There have been 5 Goals in 3 matches at The Dick—where the Rapids are 3-0-0, 4 GF-1 GA)—so far this still young MLS Regular Season so the slight lean here in is for the Under and this one really fits the Draw mold and is worth a shot for the serious Draw player.

Final Score Prediction: Rapids 1 Sounders 1
Pick: Under 2½ -111 (32Red)

Who: LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: StubHub Center, Carson, California
When: Saturday, April 23, 10:30 p.m. EDT/7:30 p.m. PDT [Sunday 03:30]
TV: KMYU, TWCSN-LA, MLS Live, MLS Direct Kick (US), MLS Live (CAN), LeTV (CHINA)
3-Way Odds: Galaxy -175, LA Galaxy + 425, Draw +275 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -146, Under +128 (Marathon)

The Skinny: Head Coach Bruce Arians and the host LA Galaxy (3-2-1, 8 12 GF-5 GA) have been without key cogs Robbie Keane (Knee surgery, out 4-6 weeks) and Mike Magee (2 goals) but have a deep and talented enough Roster to get scoring from other places including Gyasi Zardes (3 goals), Giovanni dos Santos (2 goals) and Baggio Husidic (1 goal).

The L5 Meetings in this Western Conference series (RSL 3-0 LA, LA 1-0 RSL, RSL 0-0 LA, LA 5-0 RSL, RSL 0-0 LA) has seen 5 Clean Sheets (Galaxy to Win to Nil +187, bet365), two scoreless Draws in Sandy and the Home side unbeaten and unscored upon, so the pressure will really be on Joao Plata (4 goals) and RSL to put the ball in the net against Galaxy GK Brian Rowe on Saturday night, but Real Salt Lake is unbeaten in its L6 (DWDWWW) and playing some pretty good Soccer. This looks like it may end up being the most exciting matches in the MLS this week.

Final Score Prediction: LA Galaxy 2 Real Salt Lake 1
Pick: Galaxy -162 (Boylesports)

Who: Vancouver Whitecaps vs. FC Dallas
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: BC Place, Vancouver, British Columbia
When: Saturday, April 23, 10:30 p.m. EDT/7:30 p.m. PDT [Sunday 03:30]
TV: TSN, MLS Live, TSN (US), TSN1, TSN GO, TSN 1410 Vancouver, MLS Live (CAN), LeTV (CHINA), LeTV (HONG KONG)
3-Way Odds: Whitecaps -105, FC Dallas +300, Draw +229 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -117, Under -105 (bet365)

The Skinny: The L3 meetings between these two Western Conference sides here in Vancouver where Ogopogo poos where he wants has seen the Whitecaps hold FCD scoreless (VAN 1-0 DAL, VAN 1-0, DAL, VAN 2-0 DAL) and the L5 Meetings in this series (DAL 2-0 VAN, VAN 0-0 DAL, VAN 1-0 DAL, DAL 2-1 VAN, VAN 2-0 DAL) has seen the Home team go an unbeaten 4-1-0 (W-D-L) and outscoring the visitors by a healthy 7-1 margin.

The Weather Forecast for Vancouver for Saturday night is CLoudy with the possibility of a Few Showers (30%), a Low of 47° and Winds WSW of 10-15 mph. This seems like it could be a scoreless Draw and FCD hasn’t scored here in at least the L3 meetings, so backing Pedro Morales (4 goals) and Vancouver in the Draw No Bet marketplace (Whitecaps -128, 888sport) as well as the Total Under 2½ seem like two fairly decent picks.

Final Score Prediction: Whitecaps 1 FC Dallas 0
Picks: Under 2½ -110 (Coral), Whitecaps Draw No Bet -128 (888sport)

Who: San José Earthquakes vs. Sporting Kansas City
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: Avaya Stadium, San José, California
When: Sunday, April 24, 3:30 p.m. EDT/12:30 p.m. PDT [20:30]
TV: ESPN, ESPN Deportes, MLS Live, MLS Direct Kick, (US), Sky Sports 5/HD, Sky Go UK, NOW TV UK, SKY GO Extra (UK), EuroSport Spain (ESP), EuroSport Nordic (SWEDEN)
3-Way Odds: Earthquakes +100, SKC +240, Draw +240 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over +100, Under -125 (bet365)

The Skinny: Dominic Dwyer (4 goals) and Sporting Kansas City (4-0-3—W-D-L, 9 GF-7 GA) head 2 Time Zones west (CDT to PDT) to dribble with the Earthquakes (3-2-2, 10 GF-10 GA) in the Golden State in this nationally televised (ESPN) affair on Sunday afternoon from San José where the Weather Forecast calls for Cloudy conditions, a High of 69° with WNW Winds of 10-20 mph. Or, just perfect.

The L5 Meetings in this Western Conference series (SJ 1-0 SKC, SKC 0-5 SJ, SKC 1-0 SJ, SJ 1-0 SKC, SKC 2-1 SJ) has resulted in 4 straight Clean Sheets—three by the Earthquakes—with the Home team winning 4 of the 5 with San José’s 5-0 blowout in Kansas City in August of 2015 the lone exception. Earthquakes Striker Chris Wondolowski (6 goals) leads the MLS in Goals and when Wondo is feeling good—and he usually plays good early on in MLS seasons—San José can be a dangerous side to face and with the Quakes winning both meetings last season and not allowing an SKC goal, backing the hosts in the Draw No Bet market along with the Under seem like a nice balanced attack on this match. Sporting Kansas City has no Draws yet.

Final Score Prediction: Earthquakes 1 Sporting Kansas City 0
Picks: Under 2½ -118 (Marathon), Earthquakes Draw No Bet -187 (Marathon)

Who: New York Red Bulls vs. Orlando City SC
What: MLS Regular Season Week 7
Where: Red Bull Arena, Harrison, New Jersey
When: Sunday, April 24, 7:30 p.m. EDT/4:30 p.m. PDT [Monday 00:30]
TV: Fox Sports 1 USA, Fox Sports GO, Fox Soccer 2GO USA, Fox Deportes, MLS Live (US), MLS Live (CAN), LeTV (CHINA), EuroSport Spain (ESP), Eurosport Portugal (PORTUGAL)
3-Way Odds: RBNY -125, OCSC +310, Draw +240 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -125, Under +100 (bet365)

The Skinny: The Road team has been victorious in the only 2 meetings in this new MLS Eastern Conference series (NY 2-5 ORL, ORL 0-2 NY) with Orlando City expanding into the league last season. A big key here for the visitors from the Sunshine State will be the availability of Rookie of the Year Cyle Larin (Hamstring) who subbed in during the 2nd Half for OCSC in last week’s 2-2 Draw with the Revolution at Home in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando which saw Kaká convert on an early PK but the hosts fail to hold onto their lead.

With this game being in New Jersey, RBNY (1-0-6, 5 GF-15 GA, L4) would seem to have the edge, but with the horrific start to the 2016 MLS Regular Season and Confidence down for RBNY and Kaká, Larin, Adrian Winter (2 goals) and Kevin Molino (2 goals) ready to go, OCSC (2-3-1, 11 GF-8 GA) could very well win this one in the Garden State on Sunday night and although it may better fit in that Draw mold, taking a chance on big underdog OCSC either in the Three-Way marketplace (+345, Marathon) or in the Draw No Bet market (OCSC +225, bet365) seems prudent in this spot.

The Weather Channel Forecast five days out for Harrison, New Jersey on Sunday night calls for Partly Cloudy conditions, a Low of 49° with Winds SSW of 10-15 mph. This one looked better on the schedule before the season started with the Red Bulls coming off a West Coast Road Trip (Tired?), having only registered 1 Win to date, seeing the usually prolific Bradley Wright-Phillips fail to score so far and a 337-minute scoreless drought already in the books before a goal in Week 6 in a 2-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids in Commerce City.

This honestly seems like a good spot to take a stab at a monster +345 (Marathon) underdog with OCSC having more Momentum and Confidence right now and already having a 5-2 Win in their only appearance in their venue last year in the club’s inaugural MLS season.

Final Score Prediction: Red Bulls 1 Orlando City SC 2
Picks: OCSC Draw No Bet +225 (bet365), OCSC +345 (Marathon)

MLS SOCCER WEEK 7 WEEKEND BEST BETS: Union-NYCFC Both Teams To Score ‘Yes’ -166 (Boylesports), Impact-Toronto FC Both Teams To Score “Yes” -150 (Paddy Power), DC United-Revolution Under 2½ -105 (Coral), LA Galaxy -162 (Boylesports), Earthquakes-SKC Under 2½ -118 (Marathon), Whitecaps-FC Dallas Under 2½ -110 (Coral), Orlando City SC Draw No Bet +225 (bet365)
