There are three matches scheduled for Wednesday and then a full slate of 10 more MLS games this coming weekend with all 20 clubs in action, so let’s start with our Weekly MLS rundown.

Wednesday, April 13, 2016
Sporting Kansas City vs. Colorado Rapids
3-Way Odds: Sporting Kansas City -137, Rapids +400, Draw +250 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over +107, Under -137 (bet365)

Sporting Kansas City and Dominic Dwyer (3 goals) remained unbeaten to start the new MLS Regular Season after shutting out the host New York Red Bulls in Week 5 play, 2-0. SKC (4-2-0, 7 GF- 3 GA) and Benny Feilhaber (2 goals) sit atop the Western Conference standings and behind GK Tim Melia have allowed the least Goals (3) in the MLS this new season.

The Rapids (2-2-1, 3 GF-3 GA) have played in 5 straight Unders to open the season in games averaging 1.20 gpg, so backing the Under here and expecting the visitors to get blanked seems logical, right? Maybe not as the Rapids won their last match here (2-0) against SKC and 3 of the L5 have gone Over. Still, the unblemished start and the play of Melia are enough to support backing SKC here in this midweek affair.

The Weather Channel’s Forecast for Wednesday in Kansas City, KS calls for Clear Skies with a few passing clouds, a Low of 44°, Winds SE 5-10 mph. So, chilly enough that the players will be thinking about warmer games and warmer times. Expect the hosts to find a way to get a goal in a low-scoring affair as our soccer pick.
Final Score Prediction: Sporting Kansas City 1 Rapids 0

San José Earthquakes vs. New York Red Bulls
3-Way Odds: Earthquakes +120, RBNY +225, Draw +229 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -117, Under -105 (bet365)

The New York Red Bulls head 3 Time Zones and 2,938 miles west to face Chris Wondolowski (3 goals) and the Earthquakes on Wednesday night at Avaya Stadium—the site of the 2016 MLS All-Star Game—in a big match for the visitors who find themselves having trouble scoring goals—Bradley Wright-Phillips has 0—and in 9th place in the Eastern Conference with a -7 GD (4 GF-11 GA). Yuckiness.

The L5 Meetings (NY 2-0 SJ, NY 1-1 SJ, SJ 2-1 NY, NY 2-2 SJ, SJ 2-2 NY) show the Both Teams To Score (“Yes”) at 4-1 with the Home side unbeaten in all 5. This is a tough scheduling spot for Felipe (2 goals) and the Red Bulls with the early mid-week game, the long Travel and the lack of Confidence this team will take with them.

Expect a sluggish first Half and maybe a 0-0 scoreline after the first 45+ minutes in a spot which seems like a good Under. San José is 10-3-3 (35 GF-17 GA) lifetime at Home against RBNY.
Final Score Prediction: Earthquakes 1 RBNY 0

Portland Timbers vs. FC Dallas
3-Way Odds: Timbers -105, FC Dallas +300, Draw +229 (bet365)
Total: 2½ Over -117, Under -105 (bet365)

Fanendo Adi (4 goals), Nat Borchers and the defending MLS champion Portland Timbers (1-2-2, 7 GF-10 GA) play host to FC Dallas (3-1-2, 10 GF-8 GA) and Max Urruti (3 goals) in a big game for the hosts who could really use the win and the 3 points in this situation.

The L5 Meetings in this series (DAL 2-2 POR, POR 3-1 DAL, DAL 4-1 POR, POR 3-1 DAL, DAL 0-2 POR) has seen the Both Teams To Score (“Yes”) W4 straight as well as all 4 of those games going Over in matches averaging a robust 4.25 gpg. TWC calls for for some nasty conditions in Rose City on Wednesday night with a forecast of Cloudy conditions, some Light Rain (90%), a Low of 44° and Winds SSE 5-10 mph.

Mauro Diaz (1 goal) and the team from the Lone Star State will not like the Portland Weather, which will suit the Timbers just fine although backing them in this spot—especially after playing in Los Angeles on Sunday night just 3 days ago—is tough as FCD is the real deal and Portland may feel the pressure of having to win here.
Final Score Prediction: Timbers 1 FC Dallas 1

Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy
3-Way Odds: Dynamo +150, LA Galaxy + 140, Draw +250 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -150, Under +110 (Paddy Power)

Head Coach Bruce Arians and the host LA Galaxy (2-1-2, 8 8 GF-4 GA) are without key players Robbie Keane (Knee surgery, out 4-6 weeks) and Mike Magee and off back-to-back (Under-y) Draws, a 0-0 Draw with the Whitecaps in Vancouver followed by a 1-1 Draw with the Timbers in Carson last weekend.

The L5 Meetings in this Western Conference series (HOU 3-0 LA, LA 4-0 HOU, LA 1-1 HOU, HOU 1-0 LA, LA 0-1 HOU) have seen Will Bruin (3 goals) and the Dynamo do pretty well (3-1-1) against Gyasi Zardes (2 goals) and the Galaxy, including back-to-back Clean Sheets (3-0, 1-0) here in H-town.

This one should be tight and a Draw is a possibility but the visitors are a different team without Keane and Magee and having gone over 180 minutes without a goal at this Site makes the host Dynamo the healthy lean.
Final Score Prediction: Dynamo 1 LA Galaxy 1
Pick: Dynamo Draw No Bet -110 (Paddy Power)

Saturday, April 16, 2016
Chicago Fire vs. Montréal Impact
3-Way Odds: Fire +120, Impact + 200, Draw +229 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -110, Under -125 (Paddy Power)

One day in the not-too-distant Future, all games in the MLS will played at a venue named Toyota Park, except for Portland which will be re-named Lumberjack Park at VooDoo Donut Way. Here in suburban Chicago (Bridgeview), where TWC is forecasting some actually pretty decent Weather (Nice with plenty of Sunshine, High of 66° F [RealFeel® 71°], Winds ESE 8 mph) there should be some goals scored with the talented Kennedy Igboananike (2 goals) and David Accam (2 goals) for the Fire and Ignacio Piatti (3 goals) and Dominic Oduro for the Impact who are still waiting for some more minutes (and the return) from Striker Didier Drogba (11 goals in 11 games last season) who has been resting his aged Ivorian Knees.

The L5 Meetings in this series (MTL 2-1 CHI, MTL 4-3 CHI, CHI 3-0 MTL, CHI 0-0 MTL, MTL 1-0 CHI) has seen the Over W3 with 13 goals scored in the 3 matches, so with the Weather (hopefully) cooperating and both teams able to answer that first goal from the opponent, backing the Over and the BTTS (Yes) seems prudent in a match in which the visiting Impact can definitely win.
Final Score Prediction: Fire 1 Impact 2

DC United vs. Toronto FC
3-Way Odds: DC United +110, Toronto FC +210, Draw +229 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -110, Under -125 (Paddy Power)

Fabián Espíndola (3 goals) and the Black-and-Red, DC United (1-2-3, 7 GF-9 GA), finally got their first Win of the season last outing, blasting the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps here at RFK Stadium in Week 5 play, 4-0, while Sebastian Giovinco (3 goals) and Toronto FC (1-2-2, 5 GF-5 GA) tied the Revolution at Gillette Stadium in New England, 1-1 as TFC’s never-ending, season-beginning 8-game Road Trip continued with a result.

The L5 Meetings in this Eastern Conference series (TOR 0-0 DC, DC 1-2 TOR, DC 3-0 TOR, TOR 1-2 DC, TOR 1-0 DC) have seen the Home team win just twice with 3 of the L4 going Over the (usual for MLS) posted 2½ Total (Goals).

The Weather Forecast in the Washington, DC area on Saturday afternoon calls for some beautiful Sunny conditions, 68° temperatures (Fahrenheit) with NE Winds of 5-10 mph, so absolutely beautiful Weather for some Soccer or Cherry Blossoms.
Final Score Prediction: DC United 0 Toronto FC 0

Columbus Crew vs. NYCFC
3-Way Odds: Crew -120, NYCFC +300, Draw +250 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -125, Under -110 (Paddy Power)

These two teams have only met twice with New York City Football Club (NYCFC) and captain David Villa (Barcelona, Atlético Madrid), Frank Lampard (Chelsea) and Andrea Pirlo (Juventus) just joining the MLS last season.

In those two meetings last season, the Crew won 2-1 at Yankee Stadium (Aug. 29, 2015), while 10 days earlier (Aug. 19, 2015), the two teams played to a 2-2 Draw here at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus in the first-ever meeting between the two sides. So, 2 meetings, 2 Overs and 2 BTTS (Yes) winners.

And with Kei Kamara (1 goals) and the host Crew somewhat desperate after a horrific MLS-worst start (0-3-2, 3 GF-7 GA), expect the Hudson Street Hooligans, hometown fans and the winless Crew to be up for them before things get too out of hand. Columbus is the only team in the MLS without a Win still.

The Weather for Columbus on Saturday night in the Ohio capital calls for Mostly Clear Skies, temperatures around 45° and mild ENE Winds of 6 mph, so, a little chilly.
Final Score Prediction: Crew 1 NYCFC 1

Colorado Rapids vs. New York Red Bulls
3-Way Odds: Rapids +140, RBNY +300, Draw +250 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -110, Under -110 (Paddy Power)
Match Result and Over 2½: Rapids/Over +275, RBNY/Over +350 (Paddy Power)

Marco Pappa (1 goal) and the Rapids (2-2-1, 3 GF-3 GA) have been anemic Offensively this season, but that’s nothing new so the best way to play Colorado games is Under as the only way the Rapids can hang with opponents is to play solid Defense.

The L5 Meetings (NY 1-1 COL, NY 1-1 COL, COL 2-0 NY, NY 4-1 COL, COL 4-1 NY) in this series reveal the Red Bulls have struggled in the Rocky Mountains, L2 straight and being outscored 6-1 in the process. With matches at The Dick usually low-scoring and RBNY having some trouble scoring along with the 5,000+ feet of Altitude and the Red Bulls possibly having some Travel fatigue after playing in San José on Wednesday night.

The Under is the call here, especially with some potentially really crappy Colorado conditions in the The Weather Channel Forecast (Thunderstorms likely, 80% chance of Rain, Low 40°, Winds gusting to 40 mph).
Final Score Prediction: Rapids 1 Red Bulls 1

Real Salt Lake vs.Vancouver Whitecaps
3-Way Odds: Real Salt Lake +120, Whitecaps +210, Draw +229 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -137, Under +100 (Paddy Power)

Joao Plata (4 goals) and still unbeaten Real Salt Lake (3-0-2, 9 GF-6 GA) welcome Pedro Morales (4 goals) and the Vancouver Whitecaps (2-3-1, 6 GF-10 GA) to Rio Tinto on Saturday night for a fun Western Conference affair in the Beehive State which should have very few quality shots on either goal, the way things look.

The L5 in this series (VAN 4-0 RSL, VAN 2-1 RSL, RSL 0-1 VAN, VAN 2-1 RSL, RSL 1-1) has seen 3 of the L4 go Over, but—partly because of the potential Cold Weather—this seems like an Under despite the fact RSL started the season off with 4 consecutive Overs (4, 3, 4, 3 goals) and despite the fact Vancouver allowed 4 goals to DCU at RFK in Week 5.

Luke Mulholland (1 goal) and RSL are 3-3-1 (9 GF-5 GA) and has W3 against the Whitecaps here at Home at Rio Tinto, outscoring them 8-2 along the way. The Weather Forecast in Sandy on Saturday night calls for partly Cloudy conditions, a frigid Low of 39° with N Winds to 10-20 mph.

Or in layman’s terms, fairly unpleasant. More embracing of a Total going Under in the soccer odds boards (The Under was 7-3 ATS last week and there were 5 Draws, seemingly both very good things for sportsbooks worldwide).
Final Score Prediction: Real SLC 1 Whitecaps 0

Seattle Sounders vs. Philadelphia Union
3-Way Odds: Sounders -120, Union +320, Draw +240 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -120, Under -120 (Paddy Power)

Clint Dempsey (1 goal) and the Seattle Sounders (1-3-1, 4 GF-6 GA) finally got their first Win after getting off to the worst start in franchise history (0-3-0) and then last weekend, earning a 1-1 Draw at Houston.

The L5 Meetings (PHI 1-0 SEA, SEA 2-1 PHI, PHI 2-2 SEA, SEA 1-0 PHI, SEA 0-2 PHI) reveal that the Home team has W3 of the L4 in this series, all by 1 goal, and that the Under has W3 of 5. Here in the Emerald City, expect the hosts to kick it up a notch against an underrated Union (3-2-0, 7 GF-5 GA) side, a team which they’ve gone 3-1-0 [W-L-D] (5 GF-3 GA) against in Seattle lifetime in MLS play, W2 straight.
Final Score Prediction: Sounders 2 Union 1
Pick: Both Teams To Score ‘Yes’ -137 (Stan James)

Portland Timbers vs. San José Earthquakes
3-Way Odds: Timbers -187, Earthquakes +450, Draw +275 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -117, Under -105 (bet365)

Portland Timbers (1-2-2, 7 GF-10 GA) plays host for the second time in 5 days, this time facing prolific goal-scorer Chris Wondolowski (3 goals) and the Earthquakes (2-1-2, 7 GF-7 GA) who are coming off a game at Dallas (2-2) before traveling back home to California then heading up the Pacific Coast for this meeting, so San José may be a bit gassed by this point in the week.

Fanendo Adi (4 goals), Jack McInerney (2 goals) and the defending MLS champion Timbers are unbeaten (4-0-3, 12 GF- 6 GA) against the Quakes in the City of Roses and the Weird. So, let’s “Keep Portland Weird,” like Nat Borchers Beard/Good Luck Chin-Fuzz. The L5 Meetings? SJ 2-1 POR, SJ 0-0 POR, POR 1-0 SJ, POR 3-0 SJ, SJ 1-2 POR.
Final Score Prediction: Timbers 2 Earthquakes 1

Orlando SC vs. New England Revolution
3-Way Odds: OCSC +110, Revolution +225, Draw +229 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -150, Under +110 (Paddy Power)

Rookie of the Year Cyle Larin (Hamstring, 3 goals missed last week but OCSC Head Coach Adrian Heath said he was “pretty confident” about his availability here against New England (1-1-4, 6 GF-8 GA) and Kaká and OCSC (2-1-2, 9 GF-6 GA) will need him here.

With Orlando City SC expanding into the MLS just last year there have only been 2 meetings with Diego Fagúndez (2 goals) and the Revolution winning 3-0 at Gillette Stadium and the two clubs tying 2-2 here at the Citrus Bowl. So, 2 Overs in 2 meetings and the Weather definitely won’t be a problem down in the beautiful Sunshine State (Mostly Sunny, 83°).
Final Score Prediction: Orlando SC 2 Revolution 1

FC Dallas vs. Sporting Kansas City
3-Way Odds: FC Dallas +100, SKC +229, Draw +229 (Paddy Power)
Total: 2½ Over -150, Under +120 (Paddy Power)

One day in the not-too-distant Future, all games in the MLS will played at a venue named Toyota Park, except for Houston which will be called Whataburger Stadium. The L5 Meetings in this series—SKC 3-1 DAL, SJC 4-0 DAL, DAL 3-1 SKC, SKC 1-1 DAL, DAL 2-2 SKC—have seen the Over (as well as the BTTS ‘Yes’) go 4-1 with an average of 3.76 gpg, so both those marketplaces should be looked at by those interested and this is one of those matches which seems to fit the draw mold.

If Dominic Dwyer (3 goals), Brad Davis (1 goal) and SKC can go down to Big D and win this tricky Western Conference showdown spot spot on the schedule, the rest of the MLS best take note. This should be one of the week’s better matches.
Final Score Prediction: FC Dallas 2 SKC 2
