Minnesota United FC has been facing a rough start, so do we blindly fade MUFC and take the Over until further notice? Let’s look at their match against Colorado and two others games this week to cherry-pick the best games on the MLS Week 3 betting board in the midst of March Madness.

Colorado Rapids vs. Minnesota United FC

Saturday, March 18, 2017 - 9 p.m. ET

Sometimes it takes that extra week for oddsmakers to catch up with the perceived scoring shape of a team and that’s what we may have with expansion club Minnesota United FC (2 GF-11 GA) and their totals, still at 2½ when a 3 is much more appropriate for a new side which has looked nervous defensively. On Sunday, the Rapids (1-0-1, 1 GF-1 GA) welcome the newbies to that 5,200 feet of altitude, so why a 2½ total and not a 3 in our soccer odds? Probably because in the Rapids two matches there have only been two goals (COL 1-0 NE, RBNY 1-0 COL) with the Rapids only putting 3 shots on target.

Expect Colorado to enjoy the fragile opponent and kind spot on the schedule with Dominique Badji (1 goal), Jared Watts, Kevin Doyle and the Rapids possibly going Over themselves with Kevin Molino (1 goal), Christian Ramirez (1 goal). Minnesota will likely have trouble scoring against Rapids. Colorado, on the other side, won't have that issue. They will be scoring lots of goals making the Over at -133 with TheGreek an appropriate pick together with Rapids on the ML.

Portland Timbers vs Houston Dynamo

Saturday, March 18, 2017 - 10:30 pm ET

Fanendo Adi (2 goals) and Portland are off to a nice 2-0-0 start (6 GF-1 GA), but then again, so are Erick Torres (2 goals), Romell Quioto (2 goals) and Houston (5 GF-2 GA). The L5 matches in this series (HOU 3-1 POR, POR 3-2 HOU, POR 2-2 HOU, POR 2-0 HOU, HOU 3-1) shows the home club 4-1-0 (W-D-L), the Over, Both Teams To Score (Yes) 4-1 and both sides 2-2-1 the L5.

Here in Rose City, Diego Valeri (2 goals), Darlington Nagbe and Jack McInerney will possess the solid crowd edge and a deeper handicapping dive reveals the Dynamo has only won once in Portland (2-0, 2011) with the Timbers 3-1-1 (9 GF-6 GA) lifetime at home against Houston. Expect a lot of goals her so add the Over 2.5 to your betting picks.

New York Red Bulls vs. Seattle Sounders

Sunday, March 19, 2017 - 7 p.m. ET

Off to a slow offensive start but still 2-0-0 (3 GF-1 GA), Bradley Wright-Phillips and the Red Bulls host Clint Dempsey (1 goal), Nicolás Lodeiro (1 goal) and the defending MLS Cup champion Sounders. The L5 meetings (RBNY 2-0 SEA, SEA 2-1 RBNY, RBNY 4-1 SEA, SEA 1-1 RBNY, RBNY 2-2 SEA) reveals the Home side unbeaten (3-2-0, 11 GF-5 GA), the BTTS (Yes) prop 5-0 and RBNY 2-2-1 (10 GF-6 GA). A deeper dive shows Seattle hasn’t won at New York since 2010—the last time the road team won outright in this series—and are 1-2-3 (5 GF-10 GA) lifetime in The Big Apple-ish.

Seattle will travel 3-time zones east from PDT to EDT, making its second fairly long road trip of the young season and with GK Luis Robles for the hosts, this could be a boring watch despite the talented teams and primetime display.
