Currently favored by the soccer odds, Sporting Kansas City will host the Western Conference-leading Seattle Sounders in a inter-conference battle and potential MLS Cup preview.

Sporting KC vs. Seattle Sounders Odds Overview: Saturday, June 6 @ 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT
MLS Live (USA, CANADA); LeTV (CHINA)

This wonderful Western Conference MLS Week 15 fixture sees the conference-leading Seattle Sounders (7-2-3, 18 GF-9 GA into Sunday night vs. New York Red Bulls) heading to to the Midwest and Kansas City (Kansas) at Sporting Park to face 4th-place Sporting KC (4-5-2, 14 GF-11 GA) on Saturday night in the marquee game of the week on the MLS Week 15 super-schedule. Soccer odds makers have made host Sporting KC expected +110 favorites here over Clint Dempsey and the visiting Sounders priced at +229 and the Draw priced at +225 (BetBright). The Total Goals in this game in the 66111 ZIP Code isn’t out yet but will surely be set at 2½ when it and all the other odds are released Monday.

Some Futures Book wagers for this weekend fixture from Barbecue Central: To Win Western Conference: Seattle Sounders +250, Sporting KC +450 (BetVictor); and, To Win MLS Cup: Seattle Sounders 4/1 (odds favorites), Sporting KC 15/1 (Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook). The Sounders opened  up at 9/2 odds to win the MLS Cup while Sporting KC opened up at 20/1, so sport bettors have liked what they have seen so far out of these two clubs.

Seattle Sounders FC
The Seattle Sounders (3-1-2 Away, 10 GF-6 GA) will be coming off a Sunday night game at Home against the New York Red Bulls and will be in 1st place in the Western Conference no matter what happened in that game (results unavailable at press time), holding at least the lead in Goal Differential (+9 to +3) over the 2nd-place Vancouver Whitecaps who were also sitting on 23 points but did so in 14 MLS games to Seattle’s 12 (before NYRB). The Sounders are led by GK Stefan Frei (44 saves, 9 goals conceded) and Defenders Chad Marshall and Tyrone Mears and Seattle was the only team in the MLS to still have allowed less than 10 goals (9), although it had played only in those aforementioned 12 games. In Seattle’s previous (Week 12) game against Sporting Kansas City at CenturyLink Field in Seattle (May 24), the Sounders could only muster 1 SOG against hosts SKC in an eventual 0-0 Draw. Yawn.

Seattle is led on Offense by talented and prolific strikers Clint Dempsey (7 goals) and Obafemi Martins (6 goals) and the supporting cast of Chad Barrett (2 goals), midfielders Lamar Neagle (2 goals), Brad Evans, Gonzalo Pineda and Lamar Neagle, and others, are a huge reason why this team could win its first-ever (Surprise!) MLS Cup in 2015.

Sporting Kansas City
In Week 14 MLS play on Saturday, the team Formerly Known as The Kansas City Wizards (4-3-0 at Home, 13 GF-5 GA) smoked FC Dallas 4-0, here at Home at Sporting Park on Friday night (May 29) as Graham Zusi returned from a Concussion had a Goal and 2 Assists for the winners who remained unbeaten at Home. Sporting and GK Rime Melia—3 Clean sheets in L5 matches—are incredibly stingy on Defense, and have allowed just 1 Shot On Goal (SOG) in the L2 games (Under bettors take note) but will likely be tested a bit more here as Seattle has the dynamic 1-2 scoring punch in Dempsey and Martins who had combined for 13 of the Sounders goals so far this season heading into Sunday’s night’s fixture versus the Red Bulls at CenturyLink Field—more than some teams in the MLS have scored on their own (Impact, NYCFC, Rapids). But Sporting KC has scored more Goals than any other team in the MLS at this particular Point in Time (31), and is led by Krisztián Németh (6 goals), Dom Dwyer (4 goals), Benny Feilhaber (4 goals), Ike Opara (2 goals) and the oh-so valuable Zusi. This team could very well win another championship (2013) this season.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
The numbers in this series are weird, but expected in a way, with the Sounders holding a 7-2-3 (18 GF-9 GA) series lead over SKC in MLS play, but it’s here at Home at Sporting Park where those statistics get three shades of ugly for sporting: Seattle is a spotless 4-0-0 here in Kansas City against this club, outscoring them 8-4 in the process, including a 1-0 win last season in Week 3. And, as a matter of fact, Sporting KC hasn’t scored a Goal on the Sounders in its L3 meetings (SEA 0-0 SKC, SEA 1-0 SKC, KC 0-1 SEA)—all stone-cold Unders (the L4 have gone Under, averaging a measly 1.00 gpg exactly)—so, expect this to be tight contest from the beginning with very few (8 or less) real quality attempts on GKs. And this is one of those games that could very well end up in a scoreless Draw in this particular situation, something Props bettors (Exact Score) may want to look for when those markets open up for business later this week. Also of note to handicappers and potential bettors here: Seattle had played 3 consecutive Unders heading into Sunday night’s game. Will this be a case of Being and Nothingness at 1 Sporting Way? And although maybe best just watched, it seems from this distance that soccer picks on the Draw may be worth a small shot with 1-1 and 0-0 scorelines a possibility while the Under seems like the wisest route and the wager worth the bigger straight bet in this Saturday fixture from Middle America. Maybe, someday, saved by Zero.

Predicted Final Score: Sporting Kc 0 Sounders 0
