The Sounders have one of the best homefield advantages in the MLS, and with the Colorado Rapids coming to town on Wednesday night, is backing the home team the simple and logical soccer pick?

Odds Overview
Colorado Rapids at Seattle Sounders, [Thursday 03:00] (MLS Live, Altitude, JOEtv (USA); 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT): The Seattle Sounders (6-3-2, 17 GF-9 GA) welcome the Colorado Rapids (2-7-2, 10 GF- 9 GA) to CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Wednesday night between the current 2nd place and 10th-place teams in the Western Conference of the MLS, despite the fact that both teams have the same number of Losses (2) and Goals Allowed (9) after 12 weeks of play in the new season. Weird. Soccer odds makers have made the host Sounders solid -162 favorites here with visitors Colorado big +475 underdogs and the Draw priced at +280 (William Hill). The Total Goals in this game has been set at 2½ Under -125 (Over -105, William Hill) with the Both Teams To Score Prop having the ‘Yes’ priced on MLS soccer odds at -125 and the ‘No’ at -105 (Sky Bet). Some Prop wagers for this mid-week contest from the Emerald City: To Win To Nil: Sounders +140, Rapids +700 (William Hill); and, Total Goals Scored: 1 +350, 2 +225, 3 +300, 4 +500, 5 +1100, 6 or More +1400 (Sky Bet).

Colorado Rapids
The Colorado Rapids (1-4-2 Away, 6 GF-2 GA) finally won their first Home game since last July in their last outing, a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday in rainy Denver on a second half Lucas Pittman (1 goal, +3300 Last Goalscorer, bet365) goal, and this club is sort of an enigma as its last place in the Western Conference standings reveals, despite having just 2 Losses, having allowed 9 goals all season and having one of the league’s best Defenses right now and starting GK Clint Irwin. The Rapids (100/1 to win MLS Cup, 888sport) leading scorer is forward Gabriel Torres (4 goals, +900 Last Goalscorer, bet365), and the 26-year-old Panamanian is the only Rapids player with more than 1 goal with Dillon Powers (1 goal, +1800 Last Goalscorer), Dominique Badji (1 goal, +1000 Last Goalscorer), Nick LaBrocca (1 goal, +1200 Last Goalscorer), Dillon Serna (1 goal, +1800 Last Goalscorer), and the aforementioned Pittman, who had the lone goal in Sunday’s win over the Whitecaps, all having scored one goal each for the Rapids. With just those 10 goals scored all season to date, it’s a very good things that Colorado is tied (with the Sounders, of course) for having allowed the least goals in the MLS (9) through Week 12. But finding a way to score here at CenturyLink Field will probably be more of priority on Wednesday evening for the 10th-place Rapids, whose 7 Draws is tops in the MLS. Expect few quality attempts on goal from Colorado in this one, maybe something Totals players should contemplate.

Seattle Sounders FC
In their last game, the Seattle Sounders (3-1-1 Home, 7 GF-3 GA) were held to just 1 shot on goal, but still found a way to earn a point in a 0-0 Draw against Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park in Kansas City. The Sounders begin Week 13 in 2nd place in the Western Conference with 20 points, 1 point behind 1st-place FC Dallas (6-3-3, 20 points) and can jump into first place with a Win here at Home at CenturyLink Field over the Rapids. In goal, the Sounders feature Stefan Frei (44 saves, 9 goals conceded), and, as mentioned, Seattle is tied with these Colorado Rapids for allowing the least goals in MLS play heading into this match (9) which will actually be much more important for the visitors from the Rocky Mountain State with their precarious position in the table heading in. The talented Sounders are led in scoring by star striker Clint Dempsey (7 goals, +400 Last Goalscorer, bet365) and speedy, 30-year-old Nigerian Forward Obafemi Martins (6 goals, +400 Last Goalscorer), and the two have combined for more goals (13) so far this season than seven MLS teams and as many as two others. Lamar Neagle (2 goals, +600 Last Goalscorer) and Chad Barrett (2 goals, +500 Last Goalscorer) have also added a couple of scores for this team, which has to be considered a legitimate contender, again, for the MLS Cup (+450 to win MLS Cup, Stan James).

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
Lifetime in MLS play against these Rapids, the Seattle Sounders have gone an impressive 13-2-2 (34 GF-18 GA) overall and an even shinier 8-1-0 (20 GF-7 GA) here at Home at CenturyLink against them. Seattle (Current Form: WWWLWD) has beaten the Rapids (Current Form: LDDDDW) by 1-0, 4-1 and 2-0 scorelines (7-1 L3) in the L3 games between the two teams here at Home, and, over the L5, Seattle is a perfect 5-0-0 against the Rapids (14-3 goals), meaning that backing the Sounders at the fair price (-163, William Hill) is the recommendation in this handicap. The Rapids will do everything in their power to try to limit quality Sounders’ attempts on Irwin, but with the valuable Home Crowd, first place in the Western Conference within sight and the complete dominance in the series of late, this clearly looks like a 1-0 or 2-0 Sounders victory with the Usual Suspects—Dempsey, Martins or maybe even Darwin Jones (+450 Last Goalscorer, bet365)—likely getting one or both goals for host Seattle in this theoretical outcome for this soccer pick.

And with the two stingiest Defenses in the MLS, mulling the Under (2½ -125, William Hill) is also suggested. Mulling is free and mulling can be Wise, brother. Despite the Rapids extremely quirky Road mark (1-4-2, 6 GF- 2 GA) and just 2 Goals Allowed away from home this season, expect the Sounders to respectfully fear Colorado heading in here and find a way to get that valuable first and hard-earned goal which will set the tone for a victory and turn the CenturyLink Field crowd up a notch, which is worth its weight in gold in the MLS.

Predicted Final Score: Seattle 2 Colorado 0

MLS Free Pick: Sounders -162, Under 2½ -125 at William Hill
