This inter-conference game between the New England Revolution and FC Dallas will mean much to both of these evenly matched teams, so is a Draw in order for our soccer picks?

The 2nd-place team in the Eastern Conference, the New England Revolution (6-6-7, 25 GF-26 GA, 26 points) pays visit to the 5th-place team in the Western Conference, FC Dallas (7-5-5, 21 GF-23 GA, 24 points) on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas in this Week 20 matchup between two teams in the thick of the MLS playoff race and who both look good in the standings, but who both have minus Goal Differentials 19 weeks into the season. New England Revolution
In Week 19 action, the 10-man New England Revolution (2-1-6 on Road, 10 GF-18 GA) were upset by the Vancouver Whitecaps, 2-1 on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts when Defender Andrew Farrell was sent off for a Red Card in the 29th minute. The Whitecaps then proceeded to score twice and take a 2-0 Halftime lead, then held off their New England hosts who scored late in the 2nd Half on a Teal Bunbury goal. The loss ended a 17-match Home unbeaten streak for the Revolution who still sit 11 points (35 to 24) behind Eastern Conference leading DC United. Despite the 2nd-place standing in the East, Head Coach Jay Heaps and the Revolution Revolution (12/1 to win MLS Cup, bet365) need better Defense out of GK Bobby Shuttleworth and the team, which have now allowed the most goals in the conference (26) outside of the Philadelphia Union (32). On Offense, the Revolution look to striker Charlie Davies (7 goals), Juan Agudelo (4 goals), Bunbury (4 goals) and Kelyn Rowe (3 goals) for scoring in its 4-2-3-1 tactical formation although players like Lee Nguyen (1 goal), Chris Tierney (1 goal), Scott Caldwell (1 goal) and London Woodberry can occasionally contribute a goal or two. Midfielder Jermaine Jones who just underwent surgery for a hernia, is listed as active but wasn’t even a reserve in Saturday night’s loss so he is still recovering.

FC Dallas
FC Dallas (5-2-1 Home, 11 GF-8 GA) is coming off a 2-0 Win over the Houston Dynamo on Friday night here at home in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area in Week 19 play to gain a little much-needed confidence for a team which has recently slipped from near the top of the Western Conference standings to its current 5th place. On Offense, FC Dallas is led by Fabian Castillo (6 goals), Blas Pérez (5 goals), Testro Akindele (3 goals), Mauro Diaz (2 goals) and Ryan Hollinshead (2 goals), but with just 4 goals in its L7 games—2 of which came in this past weekend’s win against the Dynamo—FC Dallas (16/1 to win MLS Cup, bet365) is putting much pressure on GK Chris Seitz. Here against New England, FC Dallas not only gets a chance at Home for the win and the much-needed 3 points, but a chance to get their mojo back.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
In lifetime MLS play in this series, New England holds a strong edge, going 22-5-13 (65 GF-50 GA) overall against FC Dallas (and the organization when nicknamed the Burn) as well as actually holding a 10-3-9 edge (35 GF-32 GA) in the series here in Dallas—a pretty rare thing in soccer. Here in this series, one major thing of note is the fact that there have been 5 straight Unders played (FC Dallas 2-0 NE, NE 0-1 FC Dallas, FC Dallas 1-0 NE, NE 2-0 FC Dallas, FC Dallas 1-0) in this series and with the Summer heat starting to peak (and hold), this 4th of July contest could be a grueling one for both sides, which may both be a bit worn down from all of the travel, US Open Cup play and MLS play these first 19 weeks. This is a tough call to make with our  soccer picks, as far as the side goes, but with the recent series trend of the Under hitting, it seems wise to take a chance on that with this game being so important to both and the two clubs being so evenly matched in this inter-conference tilt. As you can see, these two teams have managed a combined total of 2 wins in their L12 combined games. Current Form—FC Dallas: LLDLDW; New England: DDLWLL.

Predicted Final Score: FC Dallas 1 New England Revolution 1
Major League Soccer Picks: Under 2½ -102, FC Dallas Draw No Bet -200 (BetVictor)
