Los Angeles vs. Dallas MLS Pick
Playing on your own field in front of your own fans is always an advantage in the world of soccer, and Major League Soccer is no different.
As such, it's customary that the Galaxy are favored on the MLS betting odds boards at anywhere from -130 to -140 to win their match against FCD this weekend. A win for the visitors would pay out nicely at about +340, with a draw at +240.
Returning home helped out the Galaxy in their 2-1 win over Columbus during the week. It certainly wasn't easy for Bruce Arena's team though.
After going down 1-0 with only 12 minutes remaining, the Galaxy got bailed out by a couple penalty calls in the final minutes. Robbie Keane converted both, giving the Galaxy a huge boost and a much-needed three points.
Now L.A. finds themselves in fourth place in the Western Conference and only six points behind Real Salt Lake for first place.
The Galaxy, though, have had to watch Mike Magee, who had scored six goals for the club this season, completely dominate for his team in Chicago.
They've therefore needed even more production out of the likes of Keane and Landon Donovan. Keane leads the team with seven league goals, while Donovan has netted three goals in the 2013 campaign thus far.
The Hoops have only lost three matches this season, but they're still behind RSL in the Western Conference. A win over the Galaxy in Los Angeles could very well push them into that coveted top spot.
That said, it's been very tricky for FCD away from home. While they're still unbeaten at home (seven wins and three draws in ten matches), they've won only one of their eight matches outside of Dallas.
Dallas comes in having drawn three consecutive matches against Kansas City, Philadelphia, and Chivas. In the 0-0 draw with Chivas, there were 30 total shots on goal between the two teams, but goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and Raul Fernandez stood their ground.
Those to look out for on the pitch include Blas Perez, who leads FCD with six goals, Kenny Cooper, and David Arturo Ferreira. Ferreira has tallied six assists this season.
Who will make the biggest difference in Sunday's game over in sunny California; who should we back with our soccer picks?
FCD is about as stubborn as they come and are fighting desperately to stay near the top of the conference, but their away form has to be extremely concerning to potential backers.
You've also got to be quite impressed with the Galaxy's performances at home, especially when it comes to defense. They've surrendered only three goals in eight matches at the Home Depot Center.
Overall, L.A. has gone 5-2-1 at home with a goal differential of plus-11. But, we just can't shake the feeling that the Hoops will keep this one extremely close throughout.
