Let’s take a quick look at sketch previews for the three matches on tap, the Philadelphia Union, New York Red Bulls, the LA Galaxy, and the Chicago Fire, for Wednesday night.

Philadelphia Union vs. Chicago Fire
The Philadelphia Union (6-5-3, 21 GF-16 GA) haven’t beaten the Chicago Fire in the L7 MLS meetings, going 0-4-3 against the Fire with Philadelphia’s last win here in the City of Brotherly Love and the Philly Phanatic coming way back in May 18, 2013 here in suburban-ish Chester.

The Union saw their 8-game unbeaten streak come to an end last week in their 3-2 loss against NYCFC at Yankee Stadium, but with Chicago struggling and winless on the Road this year (0-2-4, 3 GF- 8 GA) and averaging just 0.50 gpg away from Chicagoland, this looks like the spot the Union finally beat Kennedy Igboananike (4 goals) and the 10th-place (Eastern Conference) Fire again in Philly, especially with the Union an unbeaten 5-2-0 (14 GF-6 GA) so far as hosts in their two Home venues, Talen Energy Center in Chester and Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The L5 Meetings (CHI 1-0 PHI, PHI 3-3 CHI, CHI 1-0 PHI, PHI 1-1 CHI, CHI 1-1 PHI) reveal the Both Teams To Score (‘Yes’) is 4-1 with 3 Draws in those 5 games, but trusting Chicago to score a Road goal this season makes that Prop bet (BTTS ‘Yes’) a risky proposition. Here it seems Chris Pontius (5 goals), CJ Sapong (5 goals), Sebastien Le Toux (2 goals) and Vincent Nogueira (2 goals) and the 1st-place Union (23 points) get the job done with a Win, knowing the New York Red Bulls (22 points) have crept up to within a point behind them atop the conference standings.

Real Salt Lake vs. New York Red Bulls
The aforementioned New York Red Bulls (7-1-7, 26 GF-20 GA) are on a roll, having now W5 straight overall and W4 in a row in MLS play after shutting out the Seattle Sounders, 2-0 on Sunday night at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ. RBNY has now outscored MLS opponents 13-0 in this remarkable 5-game Win Streak, 14-0 counting a 1-0 US Open win against the Rochester Rhinos last week. So GK Luis Robles and the Defense as well as the Red Bulls capable Offense have finally started to click after New York (1-1-5, 9 GF-11 GA on Road) got off to one its worst starts in franchise history.

The L5 Meetings in this series reveals (RBNY 1-0 RSL, RSL 1-1 RBNY, RBNY 4-3 RSL, RSL 2-0 RBNY, RBNY 1-3 RSL) the Unders to have won for bettors in 3 of the L5 games with both meetings here in Sandy, Utah (suburban Salt Lake City) landing Under and exactly on 2 goals. With Bradley Wright-Phillips (8 goals), Mike Grella (6 goals) and the Red Bulls playing flawless football right now, it’s easy to think about blindly backing the visitors here but RBNY (10/1 to win MLS Cup, 32Red; down from 20/1 last week) still has just 1 Road Win, 7 Road Draws, will be losing 2 Hours going from EDT to MDT and haven’t won here in their L5 trips and have just 1 lifetime Win in the Beehive State (1-3-5, 9 GF-18 GA Lifetime at RSL).

Plus, Real Salt Lake (7-3-4, 15 GF-15 GA) in unbeaten at Home (4-1-0, 8 GF-4 GA) in extremely low-scoring games and have one of the best MLS GK’s in 37-year-old Nick Rimando, so this may be one of those games best left alone from a soccer picks perspective and just watched.

LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids
The LA Galaxy (5-6-3, 27 GF-17 GA) welcome the 1st-place Colorado Rapids (9-4-2, 19 GF-11 GA) to the StubHub Center in Carson on Wednesday night (MLS Live, TWCSN-LA, Altitude) for a really big Western Conference showdown and matchup between one of the highest-scoring teams in the league (LA Galaxy, 27 goals) and one which often wins in low-scoring slogs (Rapids, 30 total goals both teams in 15 games, 2.0 gpg) as well as being a match in which both sides will be without some key players who were still—up until Tuesday night at least—either playing for the USMNT in the Copa América Centenario tournament as Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy) and Jermaine Jones and Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids) were or in the 2016 EURO, as Robbie Keane (Republic of Ireland) was still doing.

The L5 meetings (COL 1-0 LA, COL 1-3 LA, LA 1-1 COL, LA 6-0 COL, COL 3-4 LA) in this series shows the LA Galaxy going 3-1-1 over that span and scoring a total of 14 goals in those 5 games, a deceiving stat when looked at with a 6-0 LA scoreline involved. This is the best Colorado (2-3-2, 7 GF-7 GA on Road) has been in a long time, if not forever, but this will be real test for the Rapids because of the Site. But Kevin Doyle (3 goals) and Colorado (11/1 to win MLS Cup, 888Sport) are really lucky to catch GK Brian Rowe and the Galaxy (+450 to win MLS Cup at soccer odds) without prolific scorers Keane (4 goals) and Zardes (4 goals), meaning that guys like Mike Magee (5 goals), Giovanni dos Santos (6 goals), Sebastian Lletget, Alan Gordon, Baggio Hušidic and Steven Gerrard all need to step their games up if involved here for the LA Galaxy in another match that should be tight throughout and with a different flow without presume starters Keane, Zardes and Jones all present.

Monday was the hottest day of the year in Los Angeles—an Excessive Heat Warning was issued and it hit 123° in Death Valley—but on Wednesday night it’s forecast to be 63° with Clear Skies in Carson according to TWC, so, pretty damn nice compared to what it could have been with a monster Heatwave encompassing the Southwestern US leaving the Golden State for the time being. (Thanks, Pacific Ocean.)
