Fireworks may be in the air this Fourth of July but the scoreboard probably won’t be lighting up with goals when the Vancouver Whitecaps face the Colorado Rapids in this Week 20 MLS contest .

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids Odds Overview

Some Props wagers for this weekend game from the Mile High City: Both Teams To Score: ‘Yes’ -137, ‘No’ +114 (BetVictor); Draw No Bet: Colorado Rapids -137, Vancouver +114 (BetVictor); and, To Win To Nil: Colorado Rapids +333, Vancouver +450 (bet365).

Vancouver Whitecaps FC
The Vancouver Whitecaps (6-1-3 Away, 9 GF-6GA) have the best Road record in the MLS and have really impressed the league so far but are still flying under the radar in the eyes of some MLS fans and the general soccer betting public. On Saturday in Week 19 play, the Whitecaps leap-frogged into 1st place in the Western Conference by upsetting the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, 2-1 on Saturday night as the Whitecaps ended the 10-man Revolution’s 17-game Home unbeaten streak on goals by Cristian Techera (2 goals) and 23-year-old Uruguayan striker Octavio Rivero (7 goals). Along with these two, the Whitecaps also feature Darien Mattocks (3 goals), Chilean MF Pedro Morales (4 goals)—on loan from Spanish La Liga’s Málaga and a nice addition who was named MLS Newcomer of the Year last Wednesday—Kekuta Manneh (3 goals) and Gershon Koffie. And with Vancouver GK David Ousted and a Defense which has allowed just 17 goals in 18 games, this is an MLS team still worth considering a Futures wager (14/1 to win MLS Cup, BetVictor) on. Expect these odds to dissolve by this time next week.

Colorado Rapids
The Colorado Rapids (1-4-3 Home, 6 GF-10 GA) lost 2-0 to Sporting KC on the Road on Friday night and this club still has the second-least number of points (Chicago Fire, 14) in the MLS (15) and are in dead last place in the Western Conference, now 11 points off the 6th-place (last playoff spot) and fading from the playoff picture. The Rapids (100/1 to win MLS Cup, BetVictor) are led on Offense by Gabriel Torres (4 goals) and besides Dillon Serna (2 goals), the 26-year-old Panamanian is the only Colorado player with multiple goals. Dillon Powers (1 goal), Dominique Badji (1 goal), Nick LaBrocca (1 goal), James Riley (1 goal), Sam Cronin (1 goal) and Lucas Pittinari (1 goal) have accounted for all the other Rapids’ scores so far this MLS season, forcing  Colorado GK Clint Irwin to be at his best almost every start. In my opinion, even though they have the homefield advantage here, Colorado will really be up against the wall here versus this upstart Whitecaps club which has to be brimming with confidence after jumping the Sounders for 1st place in the West and which has proven it can win on the Road.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
Lifetime, the Whitecaps are 4-1-7 (13 GF-16 GA) against the Rapids and an anemic 1-0-5 (4 GF-10 GA) against Colorado here on the Road in the Denver metropolitan area. In terms of Recent Form, these two teams have registered quite different runs, with Vancouver (LLWLWWW) having won three straight and Colorado (WLLDDLL) having lost two in a row and being shut out 2-0 in its L2 games (Orlando City, Sporting Kansas City). The bottom line to keep in mind when preparing your soccer picks here is that for at least this point in the MLS season, is that there is no way Colorado would have to expected to have the least wins in the MLS (2), while it would be hard for many to think the Whitecaps would be tied with DC United with the most wins (10) in the league and sitting proudly atop the Western Conference standings at Week 20. Here, expect the Whitecaps to shun that poor Road history here and stick with its current Road winning form and find a way to top Colorado in a low-scoring affair at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City Saturday night.

Predicted Final Score: Colorado Rapids 0 Vancouver Whitecaps 1

Major League Soccer Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps +220, Under 2½ -117 (bet365)

Futures Bet Pick: Vancouver Whitecaps 14/1 To Win MLS Cup (Betvictor)
