The MLS Cup Playoffs Conference Finals kick off Tuesday night with the first leg of both the Eastern and Western Conference. Let’s handicap these two matches and offer some soccer picks.

Montreal Impact vs Toronto FC

Eastern Conference Finals

The two most significant matches in the history of the 401 Derby will take place in these Eastern Conference Finals. Starting Tuesday in front of a record 61,004 attendees at Olympic Stadium with the Montréal Impact hosting Sebastian Giovinco (21 goals; (12 goals; -105 Anytime Goalscorer, Bet365), and Toronto FC (14-11-9, 51 GF-49 GA in Regular Season) in Quebec. Ignacio Piatti (20 goals), Chelsea legend Didier Drogba (10 goals) and the Impact have done well of late in this series (MTL 2-2 TOR, TOR 0-1 MTL, MTL 0-2 TOR, MTL 3-0 TOR, MTL 2-1 TOR), going 3-1-1 and outscoring GK Clint Irwin, Jozy Altidore (13 goals) and the Reds, 8-5 in the process.

But this is a different animal and much Pride will be at stake in this all-Canadian Eastern Conference Final series—the first-ever Finals for Montreal (W3) against a TFC side which just won its first Playoff match ever this season. With so many scorers on the pitch and Toronto aiming for that valuable Road goal, the Pace should be quick here although the now frigid Weather (Partly Cloudy, Snow Showers possible, 27°) it seems the wisest approach here is to take the total Over.

Seattle Sounders vs Colorado Rapids

Western Conference Finals

The Seattle Sounders were in 9th place in the Western Conference in September, and now, the Clint Dempsey-less Sounders will be hosting the Colorado Rapids (15-13-6, 39 GF-32 GA) at Home at CenturyLink Field in Leg 1 on Tuesday night (FS1, MLS Live (US), TSN3, TSN 1, RDS (CAN), Sky Sports 1/HD (UK)). The L5 meetings in this Western Conference series (SEA 0-1 COL, COL 3-1 SEA, SEA 0-1 COL, SEA 1-0 COL, COl 1-3 SEA)  shows the Road club to be 3-2-0 (W-L-D) with three Clean Sheets and three Unders.

The way Jordan Morris (12 goals; +200 Anytime Goalscorer, Bet365), Nicolás Lodeiro (7 goals), Nelson Valdez and Seattle (-143, Intertops) have been clicking on the attack along with GK Stefan Frei, captain Brad Davis and the stellar Sounders Defense, it’s tempting to want to back the hosts on their sacred soil but the Weather looks iffy (Cloudy with Rain possible, 43°) and these are two of the best Defensive clubs in the MLS.

Shkëlzen Gashi (10 goals), Kevin Doyle (7 goals) and the Rapids (+350 to win MLS Cup, Intertops) are very capable of scoring here and GK Tim Howard should be at his best but this Leg 1 could end 0-0 and may be worth a small Props bet. Thinking Under in an important, but maybe uneventful Pacific Northwest match. The Rapids have W3 straight against the Sounders who are unbeaten their L10 at Home (8-0-2).

Final Score Prediction: Sounders 0 Rapids 0Free MLS Pick: Under 2½ -154 at IntertopsFree MLS Props Pick: Correct Score 0-0 +819 at Marathon
