NY & star striker Bradley Wright-Phillips will be playing with 10 days rest while the Fire could be tired after playing the Rapids Saturday. So, what’s the best angle & picks on this mid-week match?

Odds Overview
New York Red Bulls at Chicago Fire [Wednesday, Aug 26  8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT] (MLS Live, MSG, CSN-Chicago (USA) The 2nd place team in the Eastern Conference, the New York Red Bulls (11-6-6, 38 GF-26 GA) head to Toyota Park in the suburban Chicago town of Bridgeview to face the 10th- and last-place Chicago Fire (6-5-12, 27 GF-34 GA) in this Week 25 MLS battle fixture on Wednesday night. Oddsmakers have made the visiting Red Bulls +125 favorites here over the host Fire (+187) with the Draw priced at +240 (Sky Bet). The Total Goals has been set at 2½, with the vigorish priced at -142 for prospective Over bettors and at +120 for Over bettors (BetVictor). Some Props wagers for this weekend game: Both Teams To Score: ‘Yes’ -125, ‘No’ +137 (Boylesports); Draw No Bet: Chicago Fire +110, New York Red Bulls -133 (BetVictor); and, To Win To Nil: Chicago Fire +500, New York Red Bulls +400 (BetVictor).

New York Red Bulls FC
The New York Red Bulls (4-4-4 Road, 19 GF-17 GA) haven’t played since August 15 when the Red Bulls shut out Toronto FC 3-0, so RBNY will definitely be well-rested for this contest in the Windy City. The Red Bulls (8/1 to win MLS Cup, BetVictor) feature 31-year-old Luis Robles as its GK and this club had allowed the least number of goals (25) in the Eastern Conference heading into Week 25 action and is tied with the Colorado Rapids for having allowed the least number of goals in the entire MLS. On Offense, the Red Bulls are led by talented striker Bradley Wright-Phillips (11 goals), Lloyd Sam (6 goals), Mike Grella (5 goals), Sacha Kljestan (4 goals), Anatole Abang (3 goals) and Felipe Martins (1 goal).

Chicago Fire Soccer Club
The Chicago Fire (6-1-5 Home, 16 GF-12 GA) have been in last place in the Eastern Conference and in their last game on Saturday night, Chicago (200/1 to win MLS Cup, BetVictor) lost to the Colorado Rapids 1-0 in suburban Chicago (Bridgeview) to officially become the worst overall team in the MLS (23 points), with the team that beat them, Colorado (6-9-9, 27 points) moving 4 points clear of the Fire for that not-so-dubious distinction. Chicago—winless in its L4 now—will be losing 32-year-old MF Shaun Maloney (3 goals) for Hull City in England and the Fire are 5 points off 6th place and the last playoff spot in the conference and in dire need of some wins down the stretch here. Chicago and Head Coach Frank Yallop will look to David Accam (6 goals), Kennedy Igboananike (4 goals), Jeff Larentowicz (4 goals), Harry Shipp (2 goals), Romanian midfielder Razvan Coci? (1 goal), Jason Johnson (1 goal) and Joevin Jones for scoring. In Goal, the Fire have been starting Sean Johnson over Jon Busch of late and this is a club which has really had trouble scoring goals (27) and its’ total is the second-lowest in the MLS behind, you guessed it, those Colorado Rapids (21) again. And losing former Celtic (Scottish Premier League) star Maloney to the Tigers of Hill City won’t help.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
The New York Red Bulls are in really good Form (WWWDWW) right now and the addition of Shaun Wright-Phillips and MF from QPR in the English Premier League—the brother of team star Bradley Wright-Phillips, should really help 2nd-place RBNY down the stretch and in the Postseason. Chicago, on the other hand, is in pretty poor Form (LLDWLDL), with one win in its L6 (2-0 over FC Dallas on Aug. 2) and the odds reflect the reality of how poor this team has been this season. Usually, Home sides are at least slight favorites in the MLS. Lifetime in this series in MLS play, Chicago has dominated this series overall (27-10-14, 86 GF-63 GA) and an impressive 14-7-3 (53 GF-27 GA) at Home in Chicagoland vs. the Red Bulls. The Fire are an unbeaten 6-3-0 L9 against RBNY here in Chicago (16 GF-6 GA) and won 1-0 in Week in this fixture last season although during that streak, the Fire had much better squads while the Red Bulls were a little less talented than they are today. Even though the Trend is heavily against RBNY here, it seems it is finally ready to win one on the Road against the Fire. The Red Bulls RBNY will have the best player on the pitch (SWP), RBNY has the best Defense in the East while the Fire have so much trouble scoring goals. So, taking a shot on the visiting Red Bulls in the Draw No Bet marketplace (-133, BetVictor) also seems like a good soccer pick in this spot. Chicago will be tired after playing Colorado on Saturday and will have just 3 days of full rest (Sunday-Monday-Tuesday) while RBNY will have had plenty of rest (10 days), having last played on the 15th. Edge RBNY.

Predicted Final Score: Chicago Fire 1 New York Red Bulls 2

MLS Soccer Picks: Red Bulls Draw No Bet -133 (BetVictor), Both Teams To Score ‘Yes’ -175 (Boylesports), Red Bulls +125/Over 2½ -142 (BetVictor)
