MLS betting returns this weekend with a full slate of 10 matches in Week 15 play, including the week’s lidlifter from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

David Villa and soft host NYCFC and CJ Sapong and the Philadelphia Union in a game which looks like an absolutely fabulous spot in which to both play the (Total) Over 2½ as well as backing the visitors in the Draw No Bet marketplace. Let’s take our modern weekly thumbnail sketch glimpses at these 10 game and make some logical picks where warranted.

NYCFC vs. Philadelphia Union, Bronx, NY [18:00] 1 p.m. EDT/10 a.m. PDT
Second-year franchise NYCFC (4-6-5, 22 GF-29 GA) has had a miserable season so far, especially here at Home at Yankee Stadium (1-5-3, 11 GF-19 GA) on Saturday afternoon (MLS Live, The Comcast Network) where David Villa (10 goals) and company have registered just one win in 9 matches and earned only 8 points. Blech.

Here against the first-place (Eastern Conference) Philadelphia Union (6-5-3, 21 GF-16 GA) coming off a near two-week break in a spot where the hosts desperately need the victory and the three points but seemingly can do nothing about it, backing both the visiting Union (1-3-3, 7 GF-10 GA) in the Draw No Bet marketplace (Union Draw No Bet +110, Bet365) as well as the Over (2½ -125, Bet365) seems really wise, despite the fact that Philadelphia has just one Road Win heading in.

Goals should be scored here with the tight and bumpy confines of this MLB stadium which has seen 16 goals scored in the L3 matches here (7, 4 and 5), all going Over the Total(s). And with NYCFC (WWDLDL) having Designated Player’s like Spanish playmaker Villa and Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo—who reportedly studied English over the MLS break—onboard as well as others and Philadelphia having its share of players who can put the ball in the net in CJ Sapong (5 goals), Chris Pontius (5 goals) and Sebastien Le Toux (2 goals), backing the Over here seems like one of the best soccer picks of the week as the Union (DDWDDW) have scored in each of the meetings and will be very well-rested here (PHI 2-0 NYCFC, PHI 1-2 NYCFC, NYCFC 1-1 PHI, PHI 2-1 NYCFC).

The Over 4½ can be found at UK-based Bet365 sportsbook at +700 if you think this baby can get out of hand (and it can). The TWC forecast for Saturday afternoon in the Bronx is calling for Sunny skies and a High of 83°, so gorgeous weather in this borough of the Big Apple.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. New England Revolution, BC Place, Vancouver, 7 pm EDT
The Canadian province of British Columbia and BC Place in Vancouver is the site of this inter-conference meeting between the Whitecaps (6-3-6, 23 GF-25 GA) and the New England Revolution (3-7-4, 19 GF-25 GA) on Saturday (MLS Live, TSN, CSN-NE) in a big game for the visitors who need to try to register a Road win before the All-Star Break gets here (0-3-3, 8 GF-16 GA on Road). The Whitecaps are unbeaten in the L3 meetings (NE 1-2 VAN, NE 0-0 VAN, VAN 4-3 NE) but the Revolution picked up Kei Kamara (5 goals) from the Columbus Crew in the past month and have a little more Offensive firepower on its Roster now.

Still, the Site should be the biggest thing here with New England having to Travel the grueling 3,186 miles and lose 3 Hours (EDT top PDT) in their Travels from East to West and with most of its players unfamiliar with BC Place. The Whitecaps (LWWWLD) are currently led in scoring by Pedro Morales (6 goals) while the Revolution (DDLWLW) have allowed the most Road Goals (16) of all Eastern Conference clubs. A good club against one still winless on the Road? You do the math.

Final Score Prediction: Whitecaps 2 Revolution 0

Orlando SC vs. San Jose Earthquakes, Citrus Bowl, Orlando, 7:30 p.m. EDT
The Earthquakes are scheduled to be at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando to face host Orlando SC (2-7-3, 21 GF-23 GA) on Saturday night (MLS Live, CSN-CA, TV27) in only the second meeting between these two sides (SJ 1-1 ORL).

San Jose’s prolific Striker Chris Wondolowski will still be playing with the USMNT in the Copa América, so Kaká (2 goals), Cyle Larin (6 goals), Kevin Molino (4 goals) and Orlando City (DDLWDD) will have a big advantage here against San Jose (DLWDDL) which is still looking for its first Road win 0-3-4 (6 GF-13 GA) this season and will have to travel 2,834 miles from California (PDT) to the Sunshine State (EDT) and be losing 3 Hours.

Advantage Orlando SC, but this is a city which sadly went through much last weekend. The Weather Forecast for Orlando Saturday night calls for a few Clouds and a Low of 74°, so decent conditions unless much precipitation ends up rolling into central Florida this weekend.

Columbus Crew vs. Montreal Impact, Mapfre Stadium, Columbus, 7:30 p.m EDT
Ignacio Piatti (8 goals), Didier Drogba (5 goals), Dominic Oduro (4 goals) and the Montreal Impact (5-4-4, 22 GF-20 GA) head to the Ohio capital on Saturday (MLS Live, TVA Sports, TWCSC, CW Columbus) to face the defending Eastern Conference champion Columbus Crew (3-5-5, 18 GF-21 GA) in a big date for both sides, especially the host Crew (LDDDWL) who traded Kai Kamara to New England and have a 3-2-1 (14 GF-12 GA) mark here at Home at Mapfre Stadium.

In the L5 meetings between these two (CLB 4-4 MTL, MTL 2-0 CLB, CLB 3-1 MTL, MTL 2-1 CLB, MTL 3-0 CLB), you can see that the Over is 4-1 and that the Home side is an unbeaten 4-1-0. Even though the Impact (DDDDLW) could surprise here, a Draw seems the most likely outcome with these two clubs playing to 7 Draws in the L12 overall combined games. This one seems like one of those tricky matchups that’s probably best left alone.

Final Score Prediction: Crew 2 Impact 2

Toronto FC vs. LA Galaxy, BMO Field, Toronto, 7:30 p.m EDT
Four of the L5 meetings in this series have been played in Carson (Southern California) so Sebastian Giovinco (8 goals) and Toronto FC (4-4-5, 14 GF-15 GA) will hope the cozy Canadian confines will help here but the Reds currently have Striker Jozy Altidore (Hamstring) Injured and Out right and Will Johnson (2 goals) is the only other TFC player with multiple goals.

Looking at the rect matchups in this inter-conference series, we see that the L5 matches have gone Over the posted Total (LA 4-0 TOR, LA 3-0 TOR, TOR 2-2 LA, LA 4-2 TOR, LA 2-2 TOR) but buyer beware as the LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane (Republic of Ireland) and Gyasi Zardes (USMNT) are both with their respective national teams and playing in the Copa América and the three previous matches in this MLS series were all 0-0 Draws.

With Giovani dos Santos (6 goals), Mike Magee (5 goals) and the LA Galaxy (1-4-1, 4 GF-5 GA in Toronto) having played four straight Draws in Toronto, including CONCACAF Champions league play in 2012 (2-2, 0-0,0-0, 2-2 in CONCACAF Quarterfinals) this one first the Draw mold, especially with the LA Galaxy (DWDDLD) having played four Draws in the L6 meetings.

Toronto (LWLDDL) is just 1-2-1 (5 GF-5 GA), but started the season on a long 7-game Road Trip and might not be feeling the Home-pitch advantage thing just yet and it’s hard to imagine monster passion in Ontario on Saturday night (MLS Live, SN360, TWCSN-LA) although having the mighty Galaxy in town might get their attention.

Colorado Rapids vs. Chicago Fire, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Commerce City, 9 pm EDT
The Colorado Rapids (8-4-2, 17 GF-10 GA) have been the pleasant surprise of the beginning of the MLS Regular Season and are a sparkling 6-1-0 (11 GF-3 GA)—with four 1-0 Wins—at Home at The Dick against four pretty good clubs (LA, TOR, RSL, SKC), thanks in great part to GK Zac MacMath.

Here the Rapids will be without the services of MF Jermaine Jones (3 goals) who is playing for the USMNT (as is future Rapids GK Tim Howard who is slated to join the the team in July) in the Copa América but Argentinian Luis Solignac (3 goals) will be available and the Fire (2-5-5, 10 GF-14 GA) have scored the least number of goals in the MLS to date (10) and Chicago (DLLLWD) is still winless on the Road (0-2-3 , 2 GF-6 GA) making this an ideal spot to back both the host Rapids (DWWDWD) and the Under (2½ -110, Coral) on Saturday night (MLS Live, Altitude, CSN Plus).

The L5 meetings in this inter-conference MLS series (CHI 0-1 COL, COL 0-0 CHI, CHI 2-1 COL, COL 2-0 CHI, CHI 2-0) have seen three shutouts and four Clean Sheets by Goalkeepers with 4 of the 5 games going Under the posted Total with Kennedy Igboananike (4 goals), David Accam (2 goals) and the doused-out Fire having scored just 1 goal in those L4 meetings—against Rapids squads with much less talent. The Weather Channel forecast for Commerce City (suburban Denver) and the Rocky Mountains on Saturday night is currently calling for Clear conditions, a Low of 62° with SSE Winds of 10-15 mph.

This one might be one in which examining the niche Halftime/Fulltime market with Colorado having a seeming pattern (at Home) of going 0-0 for awhile then scoring a late 2nd Half goal for a 1-0 win (Draw/Rapids +333, BetVictor).

Houston Dynamo vs. DC United, Toyota Park, Houston, 9 p.m. EDT
Giles Barnes (4 goals), Will Bruin (3 goals), Andrew Wenger (3 goals) and the Dynamo (3-4-7, 20 GF-22 GA) are in 10th and last place in the Western Conference and all three of this teams Wins so far this season have come here at Home in H-town where the Dynamo are a respectable 3-2-1 (13 GF-8 GA).

There seems to be no real distinct pattern over the L5 meetings in this MLS inter-conference series (DCU 1-1 HOU, HOU 1-3 DCU, HOU 1-0 DCU, DCU 2-0 HOU, DCU 1-2 HOU) and like the Crew-Impact and Toronto FC-LA galaxy matches, this one on Saturday night (MLS Live, NewsChannel 8, ROOT Sports SW) looks like it could end in a Draw, one way or another.

The Dynamo (WLWWLDD) have played two consecutive Draws and DC United (4-4-6, 14 GF-16 GA) has been miserable on the Road (1-3-2, 3 GF-7 GA) and has only scored 4 goals in 6 Road matches and Lamar Neagle (2 goals) and DCU (DLWLWL) have won just one time away from the Cherry Blossoms. The TWC forecast for Houston on Saturday night is calling for Mostly Clear skies, a Low near 75° with light and variable NNW Winds around 3 mph, so if you blow real hard, you could possible affect the wind speeds. Like a couple others we’ve handicapped here, this one seems it could be a toss-up in both the Side and Totals markets of the betting odds and is probably best left alone. There are much better soccer picks in MLS Week 15 than ones from this game.

Real Salt Lake vs. Portland Timbers, Rio Tinto Stadium, Salt Lake City, 10 p.m. EDT
The L5 meetings (POR 2-2 RSL, RSL 0-1 POR, RSL 0-1 POR, POR 0-0 RSL, POR 0-0 RSL) have seen only one Over after four straight Unders which saw just 2 goals scored in 4 games, two at each team’s Home sites, with just one goal scored here in the L2 meetings at Rio Tinto.

Here on Saturday night (MLS Live, ROOT Sports NW, KMYU) in the Beehive State, expect Joao Plata (5 goals) and Real Salt Lake (7-2-4, 23 GF-21 GA) to put up a good fight with the defending MLS champion Timbers (5-4-6, 23 GF-25 GA) in maybe the best matchup (on paper or your wireless device at least) and this one too could end up in a Draw although Fanendo Adi (8 goals), Diego Valeri (5 goals) and Portland (LLLWDW) are still surprisingly winless on the Road this year (0-3-4, 7 GF-13 GA).

RSL (WLLWLW) will be coming in off a US Cup 4th Round game against the Earthquakes while the Rapids will be coming off a 4th Round game with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks (USL) at The Dick, both Tuesday night. The Weather forecast for Salt Lake City on Saturday calls for a few Clouds, a Low of 63° and ESE Winds of 5-10 mph.

Sporting Kansas City vs. FC Dallas, Children’s Mercy Park, Kansas City, 5 p.m. EDT
Another nice Western Conference matchup, this one on Sunday afternoon (ESPN, MLS Live) from the Midwest and Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas between host Sporting Kansas City (5-3-8, 14 GF-18 GA) and upstart FC Dallas (8-4-4, 24 GF-22 GA). The L5 meetings (DAL 2-1 SKC, SKC 3-1 DAL, SKC 4-0 DAL, DAL 3-1 SKC, SKC 1-1 DAL) in this series have resulted in 4 straight Overs and a Total of 15 goals being scored in those four matches (3.75 gpg) and with this a nationally televised spot and the Weather forecast a nice and toasty one (Sunny, High around 96°, SSE Winds 5-10 mph) and FC Dallas (LWWWDD) having scorers like Forwards Tesho Akindele (5 goals) and Michael Barrios (5 goals), this could be a good Over spot with FCD (3-1-4, 10 GF-16 GA on Road) matches averaging a robust 3.25 gpg on the Road so far this 2016 season.

Starting the week, Dominic Dwyer (6 goals) and SKC (LLWLLW) sat in 8th place in the West with 18 points, 2 points off 6th place and the last Playoff spot while FC Dallas is sitting proudly in 2nd place with 28 points, tied for the highest mark in the MLS despite having just a +2 GD. And that stat says it all about the basically fiddle-in-the-middle MLS so far this season. Eventually somebody will have to start to separate themselves from the pack.

New York Red Bulls vs. Seattle Sounders, Red Bull Arena, Harrison, NJ, 7:30 pm EDT
The last game of the week sees the Clint Dempsey-less (USMNT in Copa América) Seattle Sounders (5-1-7, 13 GF-15 GA) traveling 2,403 miles and losing 3 Body Clock Hours to face the host New York Red Bulls (6-1-7, 24 GF-20 GA) on Sunday night (FS1, MLS Live) in a potentially entertaining inter-conference game from the semi-Big Apple—Harrison, New Jersey. Four of the L5 meetings in this series have gone Over the Total (SEA 2-1 RBNY, RBNY 4-1 SEA, SEA 1-1 RBNY, RBNY 2-2 SEA, SEA 4-2 RBNY) with 9 goals being scored in the L2 meetings at this site.

With Bradley Wright-Phillips (8 goals), Mike Grella (4 goals) and Felipe Martins (3 goals) and the RBNY in much better Form now (WDLWWW) than its horrid start, expecting 2 goals from hosts seems logical, but with the Sounders (WWLLLW) a weak 1-1-4 (6 GF-10 GA) on the Road this season, relying on them to score without Dempsey is tricky, making backing the Red Bulls (in the Three-Way market) probably the safest betting approach here. The Weather for Harrison on Sunday night calls for Cloudy conditions with Showers a possibility, a Low of 61° and NE Winds of 9 mph, so, maybe a little sloppy, but the players from the Emerald City where it Rain 24/7 should be used to it if it does. No worries. Their adult bodies are 60% water anyway.

These teams have played to just one Draw in their L12 combined overall—RBNY has played to an MLS-low 1 all season—and the Home team has done pretty well in this series, going an unbeaten 4-2-0 over the L6 meetings. So, whether traveling 2,403 miles East or West, losing 3 Hours and sleeping in a strange Hotel bed seems bad for business if you’re business is winning. And New York—who plays the Rochester Rhinos in the 4th Round of the US Open Cup on Thursday—is finally feeling good about the way it has been playing. And that (Confidence) matters in sports and for those betting on the teams who are usually either playing Scared or with some Mojo.
