EPL betting is back on the books and there are several standout matches for sports bettors to spot, including Cardiff City and Manchester United.

Find out what sportsbooks have on offer and where the value sports picks can be found.

Cardiff City at the hefty disadvantage

Cardiff City (3-3-5) are sat in 14th place in the table on 12 points but with competition growing and the bottom-half of the table becoming increasingly crowded they are far from safe. It’s only a two-point drop into the relegation zone so points are at a premium. Yet if the odds were any indication, they are the quintessential long shot bet at +475 soccer odds which is hefty premium for the home win over Man U (6-2-3).

Unfortunately for the Welsh side they are slated to take on Manchester United at the weekend, right at the worst time possible (from their perspective, that is) as the Red Devils are back in the title hunt following a 1-0 victory over the Gunners that saw them climb up to fifth in the table, five points shy of the very same league leading Arsenal.

A move (three rungs) up the ladder that was helped along by Chelsea and Everton both failing to take maximum points and, at the same time, both Tottenham and Man City succumbing to defeat in the same week.  Still how they got there is irrelevant. Fact is David Moyes and his men have before them an opportunity to get back into the title race and one has to assume he’ll seize it with both horns firmly in his grasp. In fact, sportsbooks are favouring Man U to do just that at -175 soccer odds at Bet365.

Now before sports bettors pound Man U’s attractive odds, there is one tiny thing that could factor in this match that bears consideration; that is, Moyes needs to be mindful of another engagement oh, just a little Champions League affair with Bayer Leverkusen to decide the trifling matter of advancement into the knockout stages. No pressure.

Team selection for the Cardiff game will have to be done with European advancement in mind surely, and so attention must be paid to Moyes’ decisions before piling onto Man U’s favourable odds, not least because Cardiff City have proven to have the measure of several unlikely suspects already this season. They beat Man City 3-2 and held Everton to a scoreless draw at home, and beat Fulham 2-1 on the road. Most recently they won the first-ever Welsh derby to feature in Premier League against Swansea 1-0 at home.

Inconsistent they may be but they are no pushovers and one never really knows when they might rise to the occasion. In fact, this year’s Premier League as a whole has been an exercise in the unexpected. Anyone can beat anyone is the new maxim. So Cardiff City despite inconsistent form and the odds stacked against them can be optimistic against Man U.

Man U are enjoying solid form right now; they are undefeated in nine games across all competitions, five in Premier League. Importantly, their offensive juggernaut seems to have awoken from its early season slumber as over the course of their last five domestic games they’ve scored 10 goals. Defence however is still a bit iffy having allowed six goals across the same stretch and most concerning for them those were allowed to the likes of Stoke City, Sunderland and Fulham – three sides ranked below Cardiff in the table.

Soccer Betting Verdict

EPL has been off the books for a few weeks now, plenty of time for teams to rest and refocus which almost sets up a bit of a clean slate for week 12. Cardiff City come into this match following a 2-0 defeat away to Aston Villa on November 9th, a result that snapped their two-game undefeated streak that included a scoreless draw to Norwich and a win over Swansea. Obviously, they’ll be wanting to get back on track but according to sportsbooks it’s rather unfortunate that they are coming up against a Man U side that seems to be finally showing signs of finding form.

Had it been a month or so ago, when the likes of West Brom and Southampton were taking points off Man U, perhaps observers would have conceded there was a possibility Cardiff City could accomplish something meaningful. As it is, the chances are slim to none, at least on the outright win that is tipped large at +475. The best they could achieve is a draw, which is trading at +300 at Bet365, a happenstance that is encouraged along by Man U’s questionable defence and that could be further encouraged along if Moyes chooses to take a purely defensive approach to this game in order to rest his stars for Bayer Leverkusen next week.

That said Man U can’t afford to drop points now when stakes are so high both on the domestic and European front. A strong showing in Cardiff will go some way towards sending a message to Bayer Leverkusen and so one has to believe they’ll play to win this match. Therefore, we’re plumping down to a Man U at -175 as our value soccer pick but at the same time a low scoring affair at Under 2.5 at +100.
