Man Utd will go into its second leg Champions League fixture against Sevilla full of confidence after securing an excellent 2-1 win against Liverpool on Saturday. The tie against Sevilla is delicately poised after finishing 0-0 in the first leg.

Sevilla did well to repel Man Utd’s attack at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium two weeks ago in a scoreless draw, but it will struggle to keep a clean sheet again this time around. Jose Mourinho has an embarrassment of offensive riches to call upon, including Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard. Then there is young striking sensational Marcus Rashford, who put Liverpool to the sword with two well taken goals on Saturday.

The Red Devils have won four straight matches in the Premiership to tighten their grip on second place in the table, and they are full of confidence right now. Mourinho always has his teams well drilled, organized and difficult to break down in the Champions League, a competition he has won twice, and Man Utd is the favorite to progress to the next round at Sevilla’s expense.

Vincenzo Montella’s team suffered a damaging 2-0 home defeat at the hands of Valencia at the weekend. The last time it played a top team domestically, it lost 5-2 against Atletico Madrid. Sevilla is also a lot better at home than on the road, so its chances of victory on Tuesday are slim. Man Utd is -151 with Pinnacle to win this game on the moneyline, and that looks like a good option. It should be too strong for Sevilla in every department, and that should lead Man Utd to secure a comfortable victory. If you want more value, you could try Man Utd to win to nil at +160 with Bovada as it will not allow Sevilla many attempts on goal.

Roma v Shakhtar Donetsk

Roma surprised everyone in Italy when it pulled off a superb 4-2 victory of Serie A leader Napoli last week. It is in magnificent form at present, and its midfield is on fire. Daniele De Rossi, Kevin Strootman and the mercurial Radja Nainggolan form arguably the best midfield in Italy, and all three are playing very well right now. They inspired their team to a strong 3-0 victory over Torino last time out, and they should approach this game with confidence.

Shakhtar keeps winning in its domestic league, but the level of opposition there is not a patch on that in Italy. It found itself 1-0 down in the first leg, but came back strong with second half goals from Argentine striker Facundo Ferreyra and Brazilian midfielder Fred. The latter’s goal was a brilliant free-kick, worthy of winning any game. In the end Roma was indebted to goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who kept the margin of defeat down with two smart saves near the end of the game.

That leaves the tie tantalizingly poised, as Roma is behind on aggregate but has secured a precious away goal. It should fare much better on home soil than it did in Ukraine, and it is now well placed to gain revenge with victory over Shakhtar. Roma is -115 to qualify for the next round at Shakhtar’s expense, and that looks like a good bet as it has been playing some excellent soccer in recent weeks.
