This game is a must-win for Manchester City and the bookies know that too, so the win price is low. Can Lee Phelps from William Hill find some value? Check out his article and his free soccer pick.

Manuel Pellegrini’s job at Manchester City is probably coming to an end in a few weeks anyway but his departure from the North West of England could be hastened if his team loses at home to West Ham this weekend. They’re on a run of six losses in the last eight games and face a team who, on their day, have some match winners.

Manchester City
City have lost two league matches in April this season already - they have not lost three PL games in a single month since November 2008. They have also already lost five league games in 2015, one more than in the whole of 2014.

Just to illustrate how bad the form has been, if the season had started on Boxing Day then Man City would be ninth, 17 points behind leaders Arsenal.

James Milner, a man who has been overlooked to some degree in recent weeks, has outlined a simple plan this week: “Obviously the only way we can change things is by starting to win football matches again,” said Milner. “After last weekend, we just want to get back on the field and get some points on the board, really.

“For the first 20 minutes against United we played pretty well but we stopped after that for some reason and you can’t do that against top teams.

“We scored two good goals at Old Trafford which should have been enough to come away with a result but as a team we have to defend better than we did from front to back - we know that’s an area we can improve on.

Milner should start in my book, he will give you energy and relentless work rate, something that the stats show has been missing. City have only outrun their opponents only six times this season, fewer than any other side.

Along with Milner and Joe Hart, the one player who always looks like he is trying to win (I’m sure they are all trying in reality) is Sergio Aguero. He clocked up his 100th goal during the derby defeat. That century has come in 159 competitive games for his team and I like him to score again this time.

West Ham
The Hammers’ season has petered out and although they are still soccer odds on for a top half finish, I’d be taking the 3.5 about Everton to finish in the top 10 rather than Big Sam’s side.

Now West Ham did beat Man City 2-1 in the Premier League earlier this season and although they have never won both games against them in a single campaign, they’ll be confident.

I mentioned the stat about the form since Boxing Day, it doesn’t look any better for the away side, West Ham would be only one point clear of the relegation zone.

Soccer picks
Throughout this terrible run of results, there is 3-0 win at home to West Brom and I see this being a similar story. City will be hurting after the Old Trafford defeat and I think West Ham will be a little too open against them, so a minus two handicap bet looks attractive.

But I’ve made a little pact with myself to focus on Aguero and he’s my main soccer pick here.

Free Soccer Pick: Sergio Aguero to score first 4.0 (3/1)
