Manchester United look to return to winning ways when they take on a struggling Crystal Palace in Round 11 of Premier League betting. We breakdown this matchup and offer our choice soccer picks.

Manchester United Firm Favorites
Louis Van Gaal's start to his managerial career with Manchester United hasn't been quite the celebration fans and pundits expected. A lot of comparisons are being drawn to David Moyes' start already, the season only ten rounds deep, none of which are complimentary and could spell doom for the Dutchman before season's end unless he somehow manages to steer the club's fortunes towards greener pastures.

As things currently stand, Man U are sat in tenth place on a 3-4-3 record and 13 points through ten rounds of Premier League Betting. Where the difference is most felt is in the widening gap between Manchester United and those clubs that are firmly inside the title race. With 13 points separating Man U and Chelsea (top of the table), points couldn't come at a bigger premium than they are at this early vantage point in the season. Leak more points and it's going to be a real challenge for Man U to finish in one of the coveted top six spots, never mind the top four. Bookies are still encouraging pricing Man U as - 500 soccer bet to finish in the top six and the -120 soccer bet to finish in the top 4. However, that could turn on a dime if Man U doesn't find consistent form both at home and on the road.

LVG's managerial debut began with a shocking defeat to Swansea City at the Old Trafford and continued disappointingly through the next two rounds with draws at both Sunderland and Burnley, two sides expected to struggle according to preseason analysts and Premier League futures odds. Any concern at the time was set aside though when Man U finally recorded their first win of the season, a comprehensive 4-0 win over QPR at the Old Trafford in Round 4 Premier League betting. Although they did trip up the following week in a 5-3 loss at Leicester City, they bounced with back-to-back wins at the Old Trafford, beating West Ham United and Everton (both 2-1), and continued undefeated through the next two rounds behind a 2-2 draw at West Brom and a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea. The last lap saw them face the defending champions at the Etihad, where they lost 1-0.

Despite the last wobble, the Red Devils are priced as the firm favourites to win outright at -333 Soccer Odds, or thereabouts depending on your preferred sports betting exchange, at the expense of Crystal Palace. That positive outlook is a combination of moderately improved form in recent weeks and, to some extent, even, by the respectable loss to the defending champions. The most ardent LVG critic has pointed to his failings on the defensive side of the ball, not shoring up the team adequately there. Of course, he couldn't have foreseen the devastation through injury, suspension and the like that has hit his team. Yet, despite boasting the weakest defensive line-up of a Man U instalment in recent memory, they still managed to hold Man City to one goal. That is something.

Crystal Palace Long Shot
Crystal Palace are struggling something awful at the moment, gaining only a point from their last four rounds of Premier League action. Overall, they are in 17th spot behind a 2-3-5 record and 9 points. They lost to Hull city, Chelsea and Sunderland and settled on a draw with West  Bromwich, all while being outscored 9-4 combined. To date, they Eagles boast one road win, a 3-2 win over Everton.

Wholly off colour and form, the Eagles don't loom threatening on the schedule. Hence, they are the long shot soccer pick at +1000 to win at the expense of their hosts on Saturday. Few soccer bettors would back Crystal Palace given their current doldrums. Man U are the safer bet here, which leaves only question: where are the angles for profit in this matchup?

Soccer Betting Verdict
Backing Man U a -333 on your Soccer Pick is a good place to start, but better value is to be had in backing Man U to win both halves at -138. If you are concerned about Man U's defensive woes, backing the draw-Man U double result at +275 may be more to your taste. Past results between these two outfits have gone Man U's way, including last season when they won 2-0 home and away. Under 2.5 is trading at +130 while a similar score line is on offer at +550 at Bet365, both of which are attractive options for your soccer picks.
