There are eight games on the ice on Tuesday with all sorts of tantalizing matchups. We’ve got our eyes on three specific games, so read on to see our NHL picks of the night.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Odds: Hurricanes -123
The Hurricanes are playing well these days as they’ve won four of their last six games. Their two losses in that span came to the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild – two fairly good teams. As a matter of fact, all of their recent losses – except for a loss at the New Jersey Devils – have been losses to strong teams. In other words, Carolina is playing well these days, so keep this in mind when looking over the NHL odds.

The same can’t be said for the Blue Jackets, who are simply coming apart at the seams. Not that they were that good to begin with but the Blue Jackets have dropped eight of their last nine games. The doors have been blown off the barn in terms of goaltending as they’ve allowed at least three goals in seven of their last nine and they’ve been outscored 34-17 in that span.

The Hurricanes have won four of the last five meetings and I’ll take them with my NHL picks to get the job done here once more.

NHL Pick: Hurricanes -120 at 5Dimes

New York Rangers vs. New York Islanders

Odds: Islanders -125
The New York Islanders have hit a bit of a cold patch. On Monday, they had a fairly pathetic effort against the Toronto Maple Leafs, needing to climb out of a big hole in the third period just to outlast them in a shootout. That’s part of a four-game road trip that saw them lose to the Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars. On the whole, the Islanders have lost four of six and have really cooled off.

As for the Rangers, they’ve played well recently as they’ve won two of three and 10 of 13. They’re a confident bunch right now as they’re coming off a 1-0 win in Chicago, which is deemed to be one of the Cup favorites. The Rangers have won four of their last five visits to Long Island and I’ll bet on them cashing in once more.

NHL Pick: Rangers +105 at The Greek

Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues

Odds: Blues -180
It looks like the Blues have found their offensive touch once more as they’ve managed to score 12 goals in their last three games. This is a team that’s actually more offense-oriented than people think. They are fifth in the NHL in goals per game at 3.02 but they hadn’t been doing much in the month of February. They averaged just 2.43, which was good for 22nd in the NHL.

On Tuesday, they’ll host the Winnipeg Jets, who will be without two of their best scorers: Dustin Byfuglien and Bryan Little. The Jets have dropped eight of 11 against teams with a winning record while the Blues are 13-7 when at home with a total of five or less. They’ve also won seven of nine at home in this series. I don’t like all of the juice but I will lay the puck line in this spot.
