Brendan McKay and #7 Louisville face Texas A&M in Game 3 of the College World Series on Saturday night at TD AmeriTrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska as the double-elimination tournament continues and the final eight pare down to just two teams—the winner of each Bracket—to play in the CWS Championship series.

Odds Overview—College World Series Game 3

Louisville vs. Texas A&M.  The 2017 College World Series resumes on Sunday when #7 Louisville (52-10) faces Texas A&M (41-21) in Game 3 from TD Ameritrade Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska. Offshore sportsbooks now have Louisville big -230 favorites (5Dimes) with the Total 8½ -110 (5Dimes) with the Run Line odds seeing the Cardinals -1½ +115 with the Aggies +1½ priced at -105 (5Dimes). When the odds first came out, Louisville opened up as -160 chalks.

 Texas A&M Aggies

The unseeded Aggies (17/1 to win CWS, 5Dimes) haven’t won a game in the CWS since 1993, and the way the Wiseguys and public have been betting Louisville since its -160 open, it seems they think they already know the Final Score and to see odds of -250 (or higher)—it’s -230 now (Saturday)—would be no big surprise. To get here, the SEC’s Aggies (.275 BA, 7.2 RF-3.6 RA) beat Davidson (7-6, 12-6) last weekend at Blue Bell Park in College Station in the College Station Super Regional, and in Game 2, A&M Manager Rob Childress put out a Starting Lineup of: CF Choruby, DH Foster, SS Shewmake, 1B Coleman, C Bedford, RF Kopetsky, LF Pennington, 3B Janca, SS Homan with Brigham Hill (3.08 ERA) getting the pill for A&M (3.45 ERA) and going 6.0 IP, allowing 4 Hits and 1 ER. George Janca, Walker Pennington (3 RBI) and Logan Foster all homered for the Aggies (30 RPI) in the win.

Texas A&M is expected to go for it here in its opener, with reports suggesting the Aggies will throw No. 2 starter, RHP Junior Corbin Martin (Round 2, Pick 56, Astros, MLB Draft). and then use #1 guy Hill (8-3, 3.18 ERA; Round 5, Pick 163, Nationals, MLB Draft) if necessary with Mitchell Kilkenny (3.23 ERA) available if needed to try to shut down the hot-hitting Cards bats.

Louisville Cardinals

Louisville (+375 to win CWS, 5Dimes) were the oddsmakers favorites to win the CWS because they are in the weaker half of the Bracket and the Cardinals got here by ousting Kentucky (5-2, 6-2) at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville in the Louisville Super Regional and Bluegrass State battle. In Game 2 against the SEC’s Wildcats, 9th-year Louisville (.289 BA, 7.3 RF-3.4 RA) Head Coach Dan McDonald had a Starting Lineup of: CF Taylor, C Fitch, 2B mann, DH McKay, 1B Ellis, SS Hairston, RF Lyman , LF Stowers, 3B Fitzgerald with stud Brendan McKay (10-3, 2.43 ERA)—widely considered the best player in College Baseball—getting the start for the Redbirds and going 6.2 IP, allowing 2 Hits and 2 ER and striking out 9. Drew Ellis (.367) homered twice for Louisville which saw he, Colby Fitch and leadoff man Logan Taylor all get 3 Hits with slugger McKay (.343) going 0-for-5 as he concentrated on his pitching.

So with a baby Babe Ruth, the Cardinals (RPI 5) look for their first CWS title and with Ellis seeing the baseball well and McKay (.464 OBP, 17 HRs)—selected No. 4 overall by the Rays in the MLB Draft—due to bust out at the plate, beating the Cardinals in Omaha may prove to be difficult and seeing Louisville in the Championship series against either powerhouse Oregon State (+285 to win CWS, 5Dimes) or LSU (+330 to win CWS, 5Dimes) would seem to cap off a great NCAA Division I College season.

Omaha Weather Forecast, Analysis and Pick

The Weather Channel forecast for Omaha on Sunday afternoon is calling for generally Sunny skies, a High around 80° with NW Winds from 10 to 20 mph after a severe storm blew through Omaha on Friday. Despite the reality there will be so many great Pitchers used in this game and the entire CWS itself—Louisville boasts the best Bullpen in the country with Lincoln Henzman, Adam Elliott and Sam Bordner (0.47 ERA) a combined 7-0 with a 1.35 ERA and 19 Saves—key Hits here will likely determine who wins and who heads to the Loser’s Bracket. The Plate Appearances of Ellis (.367 BA, .729 SLUG, 20 HRs) and McKay should be critical for Louisville while Braden Shewmake (.325, 68 RBI) and Nick Choruby (.325, 55 Runs) will need to produce for the Aggies.

With the ACC’s Cardinals playing such good Baseball—they’ve W5 straight, outscoring opponents 42-19 since Regional play started—and very happy to be in the bottom half of the Bracket with A&M, #6 TCU and #3 Florida and not up top with top-ranked Oregon State (3/1 to win CWS, 5Dimes) , Fullerton State, #4 LSU (+325 to win CWS, 5Dimes) and Florida State, which beat Louisville three straight times, twice to end the Regular Season and once in the ACC Baseball Championship, outscoring the Cardinals 26-13—backing the favorites here is still the Rx despite the 70-cent price jump since open and those who think The Ville can win by at least 2 can back them in the Run Line market at a decent price (LOU -1½ -115, 5Dimes) and with great team Speed (97 SBs) on top of all these other diamond riches—leadoff man Taylor and Josh Stowers each have 22 SBs—stud McKay the Cardinals are the solid CWS Pick here in the Cornhusker State on Sunday afternoon.
