The LA Galaxy have star Robbie Keane back and are coming off a miraculous 1-0 win over the Houston Dynamo. With goals so scarce in this series, is betting the Under a wise soccer pick here?

LA Galaxy
The LA Galaxy (4-2-0 at Home, 8 GF-3 GA) are unbeaten so far at Home at the StubHub Center, but still sit in 7th place in the Western Conference because of an extremely poor and winless Road record (0-3-4, 4 GF-12 GA) to start the season off. So, at least Head Coach Bruce Arena’s team can say they’re consistent. In their last game on Friday night at Home, the Galaxy escaped with the win and the 3 points when Alan Gordon (4 goals) scored on a Stoppage Time header for a 1-0 win against the Houston Dynamo, ending a 5-game losing streak. Besides the win, the Galaxy got star Robbie Keane (2 goals) back from a groin injury, while Jose Villarreal (1 goal) returned the the Galaxy starting lineup after suffering a hamstring injury. The Galaxy (+500 to win MLS Cup, BetVictor) also got a clean sheet from 33-year-old Panamanian goalkeeper Jaime Penedo in the last-minute victory against the Dynamo.

Real Salt Lake Sandy
Real Salt Lake (2-2-2 Away, 4 GF-9 GA) defeated first-year MLS club NYCFC, 2-0 at Home at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy (Utah) in its last game on Saturday night when John Sterzer scored his first goal for the hosts and star Álvaro Saborío (3 goals) sealed the Win and the 3 points with a second-half header. In the game, Real Salt Lake Head Coach Jeff Cassar switched back to a Diamond Formation and the hosts played much better than in previous games on the attack and had 6 SOG in the contest. RSL (25/1 to win MLS Cup, BetVictor) is usually a very good Defensive team, and with Nick Rimando, may have one of. if not the best Goalkeeper in the MLS. Luke Mulholland (2 goals), 35-year-old Argentinian Javier Morales (2 goals), Devon Sandoval and stalwart midfielder Kyle Beckerman give this team a solid nucleus and the way they played Saturday is promising for RSL fans.

Current Form, Series Trends, Conclusions
With their dramatic Stoppage Time win—the goal was the team’s third in Stoppage Time so far this season—the LA Galaxy upped its unbeaten mark here at Home at the StubHub Center to 28 games, and the L2 times the Galaxy have faced Real Salt Lake (Current Form: LDDWLW) here in Carson, they’ve won 5-0 (last season) and 1-0. As a matter of fact, Real Salt Lake has scored just 1 goal in its L5 games against the LA Galaxy Galaxy (Current Form: DDDLLW)—and been outscored 7-1 in the process—with two 0-0 affairs at Rio Tinto and another 1-1 game meaning that 4 out of the L5 games in this series have ended in a Draw, and that 4 out of the L5 have also gone Under (2½ goals) the Total. And with the last meeting between these two clubs less than three weeks ago (May 6) in Utah ending in a 0-0 Draw, backing the Under in a tight and low-scoring affair with a minimal number of quality shots on target between two teams fighting for a playoff spot and the same spot in the Western Conference standings with the same number of Wins (4), Draws (5) and Points (17) which could also end in a Draw here at the StubHub Center.

Having Keane back in the fold will help the Galaxy—14-10-12 (52 GF-49 GA) lifetime against Real Salt Lake in MLS play and 11-2-6 (33 GF-24 GA) here at Home—and they should be able to find a way to get the Win here, especially with the visitors recent track record of not being able to score against the Galaxy. But the MLS is very unpredictable and RSL is finally feeling good and has switched formations, so betting the Total as your soccer pick in this game seems safer than playing the favorite here, especially with the Galaxy having played some uncharacteristically bad stretches of late and with just one Win in its L6. In past years this would be a higher profile game, but as the .500-ish record reveal, both have slipped just a little bit, although both can still make some noise with their solid Defenses and talented GKs (Penedo, Rimando).

Predicted Final Score: LA Galaxy 1 Real Salt Lake 0
