Key MLB Action Starts Sharing Spotlight with NFL Preseason

A couple of important MLB series close out July leading up to sports bettors’ first taste of NFL football in August with the Bears-Ravens Hall of Fame Game on Thursday in Canton, Ohio.

<p>ESPN gets things started on Monday night with a doubleheader of MLB betting action. At 7 p.m., the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox will play the first of this week’s quick two-game interleague matchup at Fenway Park. The Red Sox continue to set the pace with an MLB-best record of 74-33. They opened at <a href=";book=5dimes" rel="nofollow" title="Top Rated Sportsbook">5Dimes</a> as -142 home favorites for Game 1 with the total line set at nine runs. Philadelphia is 58-47 overall and clinging to a 1.5-game lead over Atlanta in the NL East.</p><p>Later on Monday night in a 10 p.m. start on ESPN, the Milwaukee Brewers with kick off an extended four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Brewers are 61-47 and just a game and a half behind the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Los Angeles is a half-game ahead of Arizona in the NL West with an overall record of 59-47. <a href="" title="MLB Odds">The Dodgers are listed as a -154 home favorites for Monday night</a> with the total set at 7.5.</p><p>The highlight of the week in MLB betting action leading into the weekend is an extended four-game series between the New York Yankees and the Red Sox at Fenway starting Thursday night. The Yankees begin the week at 67-37 and 5.5 games in back of Boston in the AL East. This series gives them a good chance to close that gap or fall even further off the pace in the division title race. The Astros are 67-40 overall and they will be on the road this week for three important games against the Mariners (62-43) before heading down the West Coast for a three-game interleague matchup against the Dodgers this weekend. Houston has been opened as a slight -114 road favorite for Monday night’s game against Seattle with the total line set at seven.</p><p>All 32 NFL teams are back to work in summer camp ahead of the start of the 2018 preseason schedule. <a href="" title="Free Sports Picks">The Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens will open things up on Thursday night</a> in a scheduled 8 p.m. kickoff at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, with NBC carrying the national broadcast. Early betting lines at 5Dimes have the Ravens as two-point favorites with the total at 33 points.</p><p>The CFL regular season moves to Week 8 with the possible debut of Johnny Manziel on Friday night as the latest addition to the Montreal Alouettes after a recent trade with Hamilton. He has yet to take a snap at quarterback in a CFL regular-season game. The Calgary Stampeders are once again the top team in the league at 6-0 straight-up with a 5-1 record against the spread.</p>
