Calgary clinched the CFL's first postseason berth with last Friday’s win against Toronto, but heading into October it remains a wide-open race for the remaining five spots. Let's find some winners in Week 17.

CFL Betting Pick of the Week: Toronto at British Columbia

Saturday, 7 p.m. ET

Free Pick: British Columbia -7

Best Line Offered: 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3478754, "sportsbooksIds":[19,238,999996,1602,169], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Betting Overview

Toronto, the defending Grey Cup champion, has gone in the opposite direction this season at 3-10 straight-up with a 5-8 record ATS. Things have actually gone from bad to worse since late August with a SU five-game losing streak while failing to cover in four of those games. The total went "over" 52 points in last Friday’s 38-16 loss to Calgary as 14-point road underdogs and it has now gone "over" in seven of the Argonauts’ last nine games, They are 1-5 ATS on the road this season.

When you have an offense that has scored an average of 24 points per game trying to keep pace with a defense that has given up 34.2 PPG over the last five contests, it is easy to see why Toronto lost each of those games. In last week’s game against Calgary, the Argonauts trailed by only four points at the half, before getting outscored 24-6 over the final two quarters.

The Lions went into last week’s game against Hamilton with a three-game winning streak both SU and ATS, including a 35-32 victory against the Tiger-Cats in the first matchup in a home-and-home series as 2.5-point home underdogs. The second game did not go their way from the start in a lopsided 40-10 loss as 6.5-point underdogs at home. BC is 6-7 SU overall with an 8-5 record ATS. It has covered in five of six home games this season and it is 3-2 ATS in five games closing as a favorite.

With Travis Lulay on the shelf with a separated shoulder, the Lions have had to forge on with Jonathon Jennings and Cody Fajardo at quarterback. While this duo struggled in last week’s loss, Jennings has played rather well at times this season with 1,228 yards passing and seven passing touchdowns while completing 67.7 percent of his 186 passing attempts. Jeremiah Johnson has led the way on the ground with 515 yards and five scores on 101 rushing attempts.

Head-to-Head Betting Trends

The Lions have gone 9-4 SU in their last 13 home games against Toronto and the total has gone "over" in four of the last five meetings in BC. The Argonauts do have 5-1 edge ATS in their last six trips west to face the Lions.

Betting Prediction

Toronto is left to ride out the string while the Lions need a win to keep pace in the tight West Division playoff race. This will be its last game of the season against a team from the East before a brutal four-game run against the division, so I have BC bringing its A-Game into Saturday night’s contest to win and cover.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Boxscore CFL Power Rankings Week 17: Blue Ice Eskimos ... ;/a> ;/a>
— Boxscore (@BoxscoreWorldSp) October 1, 2018
\n\n"}[/]

Other Week 17 CFL Games

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa RedBlacks (-1)

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m. Total Line: 52.5
Analysis: Winnipeg is coming off that big win and Ottawa is coming off a bye. The RedBlacks need a win to hold serve atop the East Division standings and I think they get this one at home.

Calgary Stampeders (-13) at Montreal Alouettes

When: Monday, 1 p.m. Total Line: 50.5
Analysis: Calgary is going to win on Monday with relative ease, but Montreal has had a way of keeping things close against the Stampeders in recent games. The Alouettes have covered in four of their last five home games against Calgary and I think they find a way to cover again.

Edmonton Eskimos at Saskatchewan Roughriders (-4)

When: Monday, 4 p.m. Total Line: 52.5
Analysis: The Eskimos will be looking to quickly bounce back from last week’s bad loss at home, but they will have to get it done against the hottest team in the CFL. This game has major playoff implications for both teams, but I am betting on the Roughriders to keep things rolling at home.

Week 16 Recap

Last week’s top pick was the "over" in the Winnipeg-Edmonton game, but only one team decided to put some points on the board in the Blue Bombers’ stunning 30-3 upset as 5.5-point road underdogs.
