Novak Djokovic (1) vs. Jiri Vesely
The last weeks haven’t been easy for Djokovic and after withdrawing from Cincinnati due to a left wrist injury, the Serbian received a medical timeout on his right arm during the first round match against Jerzy Janowicz. However, Djokovic said that it was just prevention and that he’s improving day by day. Despite losing one set on his first round match against Janowicz, Djokovic ended the match with very solid stats – 34 winners / 18 unforced errors.

After being very close from elimination on his first round match against Saketh Myneni, in a match where Myneni could barely move after building a 5 – 2 lead on the 5th set, Jiri Vesely is now trying to reach the US Open third round for the second time on his career. Even though Vesely can still be a very competitive player on faster game conditions, clay is clearly his favorite surface – with the Czech winning only 50.85% of the matches played on Hard Court while his overall winning record is 56.15%.

This will be the 2nd career meeting between these two players, with Vesely shocking the world a few months ago in Monte Carlo with a three sets victory over Djokovic.

Despite Djokovic’s minor physical issues, the Serbian shouldn’t experience any problems on this contest. Vesely is far from the level presented in Monte Carlo and as we mentioned, this is also not his favorite surface. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to take advantage of Djokovic’s betting odds by placing a bet on the Serbian to get the job done in straight sets.

Vasek Pospisil vs. Kevin Anderson (23)
With just six victories in 2016 before this event, Vasek Pospisil is already outside top 100; however, the same cannot be said about his doubles performance, with Pospisil currently ranked as world no.14. Despite his poor results lately, Vasek started his campaign in New York with a solid victory over Josef Kovalik by 6 – 1 6 – 3 6 – 3, with the Canadian now trying to win two matches in the same tournament for the first time since 2015 in Valencia, when he reached the semifinals.

Everything is at stake at the US Open for Kevin Anderson, with the South-African defending 28.24% of his total points on this event after reaching the quarterfinals last year. Known for not being very strong mentally, this kind of pressure might not help Anderson, who is still trying to find his best tennis after several physical issues this year. After losing in the opening round in Melbourne, Roland Garros and Wimbledon, Anderson finally reached the 2nd round of a Grand Slam event in 2016.

These two players will face each other for the second time in their careers, with Anderson winning their previous encounter two years ago in clay by 7 – 5 7 – 6.

A very interesting contest is expected between two excellent servers and even though Anderson is the clear favorite, Pospisil should create some problems to the South-African. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to add the Over to your betting picks, in a match where at least one tie break should be played and where we also expect Pospisil to steal at least one set from Anderson.
