Top Half of the Draw
After an extraordinary start of 2016, with Dominic Thiem breaking into the top 10 for the first time in his career, the last months haven’t been easy for the Austrian. With almost 60 matches played in just six months, Thiem said that his season planning was far from ideal with too many matches and intercontinental trips. However, Dominic is doing the exact same thing and after reaching the final in Metz, the Austrian is playing this event in Chengdu.
Looking now to Thiem’s draw on this event, the world no.10 shouldn’t experience any major issues on his debut against the winner of the match between Konstantin Kravchuk and Di Wu. In the quarterfinals, Albert Ramos-Vinolas is the highest ranked player on Dominic’s quarter yet, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Yen-Hsun Lu or Radek Stepanek reaching this stage of the competition. Regardless of which player he faces, Thiem will always be the undeniable favorite to reach the semifinals.
Even though it hasn’t been an easy year for Grigor Dimitrov, the Bulgarian is slowly returning to his best level. After a solid US Open series, the former world no.8 is looking to extend the good results on this Asian swing. However, it’s still hard for us to trust on Dimitrov and after so many poor performances this season, our suggestion is for you to avoid placing any bet on the Bulgarian to win this event at +550 at Bet365.
As we mentioned before, Thiem is the undeniable favorite to win the 1st quarter in Chengdu. Even though Dominic might experience some jet lag problems in the first days, the Austrian should improve his level throughout the tournament. With Dimitrov so unreliable in 2016, the value is clearly on Thiem when looking to the players on the top half of the draw. With this in mind, our recommendation is for you to take advantage of Dominic’s betting odds at +350 at Bet365.
Bottom Half of the Draw
Known as one of the most charismatic players on the ATP World Tour, Nick Kyrgios is also one of the most promising young players on the tour. After winning his first two career titles this year – in Marseille and Atlanta – Kyrgios is currently on his best career ranking ever as world no.15.
Looking now to Nick’s draw on this event, the Australian won’t have an easy debut against the former world no.10 – Kevin Anderson. However, it hasn’t been an easy year for the South-African with several physical problems. Therefore, Kyrgios’ higher competitive rhythm should be crucial in this contest, especially in pressure situations like tie breaks.
In the following round, Nick might face Viktor Troicki, a player known for his strong serve and terrific defensive skills. Even though Viktor is always a tough opponent to face, Kyrgios is clearly the better player in this match-up. Having said that, we expect Nick to book a place in the semifinals.
Considering now Kyrgios’ potential opponents in the semifinals, Feliciano Lopez is without any doubts the toughest opponent on his half of the draw. These two know each other well with Feliciano leading on the h2h by 2 – 1. However, it was Kyrgios who won their previous encounter earlier this year at Wimbledon. Even though it won’t be an easy path, we expect Kyrgios to win this match and reach the ATP Chengdu final.
After taking Thiem’s price on the top half of the draw, our recommendation is for you to add Kyrgios to your betting picks at +333 at BetVictor, which guarantees you a very good profit in case any of these two leaves Chengdu with the title.
