We preview several games in week 11 in the CFL. It marks the start of the second half of the regular season. Hamilton continues to lead the way in the East with Winnipeg still setting the pace in the West Division.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at British Columbia Lions

Free Pick: Take Hamilton -3.5

Recommended Sportsbook: 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3805120, "sportsbooksIds":[19,169,1096,238,999991], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have built a comfortable lead atop the East Division standings through their first nine games. They will look to, at the very least, maintain that lead with another straight-up victory in Week 11 as favorites on the road.

With last Saturday’s 21-7 road win against Ottawa as 2.5-point favorites, the Tiger-Cats moved to 7-2 straight-up on the year with a 6-3 record against the spread. The week before, they beat BC at home 35-34, but they could not cover the closing 9.5-point spread as favorites. The total has stayed UNDER in five of Hamilton’s last six contests. The lone exception was against the Lions with the 51.5-point closing line.

The loss of Jeremiah Masoli at quarterback has yet to really slow down a Tiger-Cats’ offense that is averaging 31.7 points per game. In his place, Dane Evans has thrown for 955 yards and five touchdowns. This includes 260 yards and two scores in that Week 9 victory against BC. Brandon Banks caught nine balls for 137 yards and both touchdowns in that game. He is second in the CFL this season with 716 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 53 receptions.

The Lions’ current SU losing streak reached five games with last Thursday’s 32-16 loss to Winnipeg as 10.5-point road underdogs. They are now 1-8 SU through the first half of their season with a 2-7 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in six of those first nine games behind a defense that is allowing an average of 34.2 PPG, which is ranked last in the CFL.

Mike Reilly is second in the league in total passing yards with 2,151 and he has tossed eight touchdowns against nine interceptions. In the earlier loss to Hamilton, the Lions took a 34-19 lead into the fourth quarter before letting that 15-point advantage slip away. Reilly completed 21 of his 28 passed for 306 yards, but he matched his two touchdown throws with two interceptions in the losing cause.

Head-to-Head Betting Trends

BC has the 6-3 edge ATS over the last nine meetings, but the Tiger-Cats have won four of their last five games against Lions SU. The total has gone OVER in nine of the last 10 meetings at BC Place Stadium.

Free Betting Pick

Hamilton has already established itself as the team to beat in the East playing a West Division foe that will struggle to win any game it plays; at home or on the road. The Tiger-Cats are 5-2 ATS as favorites and I am leaning that way again this Saturday night.

CFL ‘Best Bet’ Record: 4-6

Other CFL Week 11 Games:

Friday, Aug. 23

Winnipeg at Edmonton (-7) Total Line: 46.5 (9 p.m.)

I thought the opening spread would have been closer between the top two teams in the West Division standings. I will take the bait and the touchdown spread betting on Winnipeg.

Saturday, Aug. 24

Ottawa at Saskatchewan (-10) Total Line: 49 (7 p.m.)

Ottawa is sinking fast in the standings at 3-6 straight-up, but I am not convinced that Saskatchewan can cover the 10 points at home. Stick with the UNDER 49 points in this one.

Sunday, Aug. 25

Montreal (-6) at Toronto Total Line: 55 (12 p.m.)

Montreal is the better team in this bitter East Division rivalry, but giving six points on the road adds too much risk to the equation. This will be a lower-scoring tilt than expected that stays UNDER 55 points.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Blue Bombers vs. Eskimos Prediction: CFL Week 11 Point Spread, Odds: With starter Matt Nichols down and out, the Blue Bombers hopes and dreams now rest on Quarterback Chris Streveler.
