The top artists in the music industry will be competing for the industry's most coveted awards on Sunday night. Below are the Grammy Awards odds on the three major categories and our opinions on each.
Chance the Rapper 4/9
The Chain Smokers 5/2
Marren Morris 7/1
Anderson Pak 22/1
Kelsea Ballerini 22/1
Chance the Rapper is the betting odds favorite for Best New Artist for a reason. Perhaps the only negative is the fact that he has "rapper' in his name, as the music industry has been quirky towards rap artists vis a vis pop artists in the past. Nevertheless, Chance's soaring popularity and his ability to seamlessly mix a bit of reggae flow with witty wordplay make him a lock for Best New Artist.
If you are going to look for another betting pick with better odds, rule out The Chain Smokers as they flopped big time at the MTV Music Awards in September and that is the kind of ouch that doesn't heal quickly in the minds of the voters. Therefore, Anderson Pak is my choice for runner-up in this category and could be an upset at 22-1.Free Grammy Pick: Chance the RapperBest Line Offered: at PaddyPower
Song Of The Year
Hello - Adele 3/10
Formation - Beyonce 4/1
7 Years - Lukas Graham 7/1
Love Yourself - Justin Bieber 14/1
I Took a Pill in Ibiza - Mike Posner 20/1
It would be the piece de resistance if Mike Posner's post-superstar success reemerged based on a song about a singer who made millions, pissed most of it away and was on the road to redemption. Essentially this is a musical autobiography of Posner's departure from the spotlight, and ironically its success could have him reclaiming the life he once knew after a six-year hiatus.
Of course, Adele and Beyonce will get all the attention but maybe, just maybe, those votes will split which will add one more stunning twist to this Phoenix rising from the ashes and give Posner a Grammy for his dusty mantle.Free Grammy Pick: Mike PosnerBest Line Offered: at PaddyPower
Album of the Year
Lemonade - Beyonce 4/6
25 - Adele 6/4
A Sailor's Guide to the Earth - Sturgill Simpson 14/1
Purpose - Justin Bieber 14/1
Views - Drake 20/1
With apologies to Sturgill Simpson, it doesn't any more star-studded than this. Album of the Year is a battle of the titans and with all due respect to the gents, it appears as though the ladies reign supreme. This truly is a two-horse race between Queen Bee herself and another legendary mononymous superstar in Adele. This may come down to simply a matter of taste. If that is the case expect to see Adele come out on top, whose legendary instrument has her firmly etched in the Valhalla of Vocalists along with Streisand, Fitzgerald, Franklin, Holiday, Mariah and Celine.Free Grammy Pick: 25 - AdeleBest Line Offered: at PaddyPower
