This game has been dominated by Steven Gerrard, as he plays his final game at Anfield. William Hill's Lee Phelps looks at the effect he will have and the soccer odds for his free betting pick.

Steven Gerrard’s final game at Anfield is threatening to take over his game, with tickets going for £1,300 it’s bordering on a glorified testimonial, but let’s not forget there is a live opponent here and one which has been a bogey team for the Reds, which are clear favorites on the soccer betting odds board for saturday's fixture.

Many point to Crystal Palace’s 3-3 with Brendan Rodgers’ men last season as the game were the title slipped away. Since then Palace won 3-1 at Selhurst Park, but Liverpool beat them 2-1 in the FA Cup.

Liverpool
Gerrard and Co have no chance of Champions League qualification, so it’s pride and a win for one of their legendary captain that is motivating the team. The Reds have lost just one of their last six at Anfield and come into this fixture as overwhelming favourites against an out-of-sorts Palace team.

Despite their attacking worres this season, Liverpool have scored in each of their last 10 home matches, bagging 22 goals in the process. Forwards have scored six of those, but midfielders have weighed in with 13 and Gerrard has scored four of them.

Those home performances have also featured nine first half goals, with the net bulging in the 9th, 11th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 29th, 33rd, 40th and 45th minutes. With the celebratory atmosphere at Anfield, I can see a fast start and an early goal for the home team.

Crystal Palace
The Eagles are currently in a four-game losing streak, during which they have scored just one goal. Palace are safe for another season, but their campaign is petering out and manager Alan Pardew needs to coax a big performance out of his players if they are to secure victory here.

They are no the fifth highest scorers in the division with 23 goals, 13 of them in the last seven games, with two blanks in there at Southampton and Chelsea.

Their performances away at the top seven clubs shows five defeats and one draw, with just one goal scored, so they will need to up their game just so lose well.

Palace defender Scott Dann has called on his team-mates to put in another good performance at Liverpool on Saturday, similar to that of the games against Manchester United and Chelsea.

"We need to make sure we go into the off-season on a high and pick up some points in the next two games," Dann told the Croydon Advertiser.

"That's the Premier League; it's so hard to win four or five games on the bounce but then you can go five, six or seven games without a win.

"We're on that type of run at the moment, but the positive thing is we've played two top teams in the last two weeks and put in a good performance.

"Liverpool are going to be for it and will want to put in a good performance for Steven Gerrard and his last home game.

"But we're on the back of four defeats, we've played well in the last two games and we'll go to Anfield trying to get a good result."

Soccer picks
I know it’s a little predictable but I’m finding it hard not to go for a Gerrard-based soccer pick here. His team-mates will be trying to give him a goal, if he hasn’t scored going into the final 20 minutes. He may even push up front if Liverpool are in a comfortable position.
