Which team will advance for a chance to compete in the USFL’s championship game? Let’s examine the matchup in our Generals-Stars picks.

This North Division playoff clash will be the third meeting between the New Jersey Generals and the Philadelphia Stars. The Stars have yet to beat the Generals in their two previous attempts, including a postseason tuneup last week.

A venue change may inject new blood into this rivalry, with the action shifting from Birmingham to Canton. However, New Jersey seems to be the more confident team heading into the playoffs.

Here are my Generals-Stars picks and predictions for Friday’s USFL game (odds via BetMGM, and FanDuel and DraftKings sportsbooks; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Generals vs. Stars Odds Analysis

There’s been very little deviation in the line across the books. All of the books favor the Generals, with New Jersey commonly listed as the 4.5-point favorite. The best moneyline option for some action on the Stars is through DraftKings, which is offering +175 for an outright win from Philadelphia.

The total remains fairly consistent at 47.5. DraftKings is again the outlier there, dropping the hook and offering a flat 47 points.

Over/Under: Over 47 (-110 via DraftKings) ★★★★

Generals vs. Stars ML Pick

Generals (-200)

New Jersey is on a nine-game winning streak, which includes two victories over Philadelphia. The Generals secured a 24-16 triumph over the Stars in Week 3 and a 26-23 win last week, which featured 11 carries for 114 yards and a touchdown from Terry Williams.

Philadelphia’s defense was unable to stop New Jersey last week, resulting in long scoring drives during the loss. The Generals produced three 10-plus-play drives, and one touchdown drive that lasted nine plays.

Generals vs. Stars Spread Pick

Stars +4.5 (-110)

The Generals are hot, but they’ve still played in several close contests lately. Only one of their games has been decided by more than one score. Also, four of their matchups have finished within this spread, including the Generals’ three-point win last week against the Stars.

Philadelphia’s four-game winning streak was snapped last week, but the club still managed to keep the game close. The Stars still boast one of the league’s top scoring offenses, which will make this another closely contested game.

Generals vs. Stars O/U Pick

Over 47 (-110)

The Stars own one of the highest-scoring offenses, averaging just over 26 points per game. They scored 116 points between Weeks 6 and 8. Meanwhile, New Jersey averages a little beyond 23 points per contest.

These two teams surpassed this total during last week’s regular-season finale while scoring 49 combined points. The steaks are much higher in this game, so expect both offenses to come out even stronger.
