As we predicted in our ATP French Open Day 7 analysis, Stan Wawrinka proved too strong for Fabio Fognini. Despite Andy Murray’s outstanding display against Juan Martin Del Potro in the previous round, Stan continues to be our main favorite to reach the final on the top half of the draw. Taking a look now at Wawrinka’s numbers in the 3rd round against Fognini, the highlight clearly goes to his performance on pressure points. Besides winning 66.67% of his break point chances, Stan only allowed Fognini to convert 41.67% of his break point opportunities.

The world no.16 – Gael Monfils – continues his successful run in Roland Garros. After defeating Richard Gasquet in the previous round, Monfils became the last French player left on the men’s competition. Playing in Paris brings the best out of Gael with an outstanding 31 – 11 career record on this event. Despite his appearance at this stage of the competition, Monfils doesn’t seem to be at 100% after requesting a medical timeout in the last match. Adding to this, Gael won’t have any day to recover since he had to finish his 3rd round match this Sunday.

These two players know each other well with their first match taking place in 2004. Despite Stan’s 3 – 2 lead on the h2h, this is their first official encounter since January 2011 in Melbourne.

Due to Wawrinka’s brilliant campaign, it’s impossible to go against him at this point. Adding to this, Monfils may not be at 100% for this Monday’s match. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to take advantage of the value on Stan’s tennis betting odds by placing a bet on the 2015 French Open champion to cover his spread.

Free Tennis Pick: Stan Wawrinka -4.5 (-120)

Kevin Anderson vs. Marin Cilic (7)

Regardless of this Monday’s outcome, the former world no.10 – Kevin Anderson – already secured his return to the top 40. From all the four Grand Slam tournaments on the tennis calendar, Roland Garros is the one where Anderson finds most success with a terrific 65.38% winning record in Paris. Taking a look now at Kevin’s campaign on this year’s edition, the South-African reaches this stage of the competition after a five-set battle against Kyle Edmund.

Playing on the big stages brings great memories to Marin Cilic with the 2014 US Open champion winning 70.68% of the matches played throughout his career on Grand Slam events. After a slow start to 2017, Cilic is back to his best with an exceptional 11 – 3 record on red dirt this season. Besides not losing a single set on his path into the 4th round in Roland Garros, Marin only allowed his opponents to win 27.07% of his service points throughout the tournament.

This will be the 7th career meeting between these two players with Cilic leading on the h2h by 5 – 1.

Despite Marin’s edge over this opponent, Anderson won at least one set in five of their previous six meetings. For that reason, this should be a much closer match than the odds suggest. Having said that, we’ll add the Over to our betting picks as the best play for this contest.
