With Andy Murray winning only 44.44% of the matches played since March, it’s just a matter of time until he loses the ATP World Tour ranking leadership. Besides his lack of success in recent months, Andy has also been struggling with a virus for the past few days. Despite his improvements on red dirt in recent years, clay is far from Murray’s favorite surface. Even though Andy can play at a great level on clay when he’s in good form, it’s very hard for the British to be competitive on red dirt when he’s not going through a good moment.

After a slow start to 2017, Andrey Kuznetsov is slowly returning to his best level. Known as one of the best ball strikers on the ATP World Tour, Kuznetsov is always a dangerous opponent. Andrey couldn’t ask for a better way to prepare for this event after reaching the semifinals in Geneva last week. Looking now at Kuznetsov’s previous appearances in Roland Garros, the world no.85 presents a terrific 10 – 6 career record on this tournament.

This will be the 3rd career meeting between these two players with Murray leading on the h2h by 2 – 0.

Despite Andy’s clear favoritism, this won’t be such an easy match as the odds suggest for the world no.1. When looking at Andrey’s previous eight encounters against top 10 players on Grand Slam events, the Russian won at least one set in 50.00% of those matches. With this in mind and due to Murray’s recent problems, our suggestion is for you to take advantage of Kuznetsov’s tennis betting odds by placing a bet on his set handicap.

Free Tennis Pick: Andrey Kuznetsov +2.5 Set Handicap (-127)
Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle

Karen Khachanov vs. Nicolas Jarry (q)

Nicolas Jarry, a 21-years-old Chilean who is currently outside the top 200, is into the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time. Due to his low ranking, Jarry had to play the qualifying in Paris with three outstanding performances. Famous for his powerful serve, Nicolas won 96.60% of his service games throughout the qualifying with an impressive average of 0.90 aces per service game. Despite his lack of experience at this level, Jarry is never an easy opponent to face on this surface.

Playing on clay brings the best out of Karen Khachanov with the Russian winning 62.32% of the matches played throughout his career on red dirt while his overall record on other surfaces is only 57.46%. Despite his higher experience, this is only Khachanov’s 3rd career appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam event – the first in Roland Garros. Adding to this, none of Karen’s two previous victories on Majors was achieved in straight sets.

Although we agree with Khachanov’s favoritism, this may be a closer match than the odds suggest. With nothing to lose on this match and after three brilliant wins on the qualifying, Jarry should win at least one set on this contest. With this in mind, our recommendation is for you to add Nicolas’ set handicap to your betting picks as the most valuable play for this match.

Free Tennis Pick: Nicolas Jarry +2.5 Set Handicap (-123)
