Schalke is locked in to the fourth spot in Germany's top-flight league, but a win on Sunday would help them gain ground on third-place Borussia Dortmund. Will they overcome Hannover for our soccer picks?

Odds Overview

All things considered, the prices on Schalke could be a lot higher, making us believe there's value to be had here. The Royal Blues are firmly favored, but the lines range from -150 to -185.

The Reds are as high as +500 to get a surprise win away from home, while a draw is available at the top sportsbooks at roughly +350.

Schalke 04

The Royal Blues enter Sunday's clash on a four-match unbeaten run. They've beaten SC Freiburg (2-0), Hamburg SV (3-0) and Vfl Wolfsburg (2-1) and also finished at a 0-0 deadlock away to Nurnberg.

It will have been eight days since Schalke last took the field in that win over Wolfsburg.

Felipe Santana got the Royal Blues off to a dream start after only nine minutes, but the visitors made things interesting twenty minutes into the second half. It looked as if we would finish at another draw, but Schalke got the winning goal from Kevin-Prince Boateng with close to 10 minutes to go and that was that.

Attention turns to Hannover now, with the Royal Blues needing a win to keep pace with the top three, all of whom have already picked up victories this weekend.

Schalke's home form has been strong, as they've won six of nine matches to go along with one draw and two defeats. Their best win came over Bayer Leverkusen (2-0) back in late August.

Hannover 96

On the heels of consecutive 3-1 victories, the Reds are in the midst of one of their best spells of the season heading into Sunday.

They first took care of Wolfsburg away from home, thanks to a brace from Leonardo Bittencourt and another goal from Artjoms Rudnevs. A week later they got the better of Borussia Monchengladbach, and this time it was Mame Biram Diouf that scored twice, with Rudnevs adding another goal to his tally.

Those full six points out of six over their last two fixtures have helped Hannover escape the relegation picture, as they're now a full seven points ahead of 16th place with a match in hand.

Unfortunately, it's been a disaster essentially every time the Reds have played away from home in the league. They've lost eight of their nine trips, while scoring nine goals and surrendering 21. No doubt Hannover knows they have to do better this weekend.

Rudnevs' form has been encouraging and maybe he'll make an impact again versus the Royal Blues, but we're looking to Diouf and Hungarian midfielder Szabolcs Huszti to be the most threatening. Diouf leads the team with seven goals, while Huszti has six goals and seven assists so far.

Bundesliga Pick

Considering the Royal Blues have clearly been the better side and will have the benefit of being at home as well, we're taking them as one of our soccer picks.

The soccer odds aren't too shabby here and Schalke has been in great form. They'll also want to exact some revenge after losing to the Reds in the first league meeting in August.

Add in the fact Hannover has won just one time away from home this season and we feel it's in everyone's best interest to add the home side to our sports picks. Look for Schalke to get it done at Veltins-Arena.

Soccer Pick: Schalke 2 Hannover 0
