A slew of midweek Premier League fixtures are on the soccer betting menu. We bring you a comprehensive soccer betting preview, complete with soccer free picks in this space.

Newcastle United vs. Man City
Newcastle United’s Premier League fortunes are hanging by a thread, but they recently received a boost following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Swansea City at St. James Park. Rafa Benitez’ side improves to 7-7-19 and 28 points, putting them just two points behind Sunderland and three points behind Norwich City.

As good as the victory over the Swans is, the Magpies still don’t strike a convincing pose in terms of a side that’s desperate to survive in the league – considering the club seduced a manager of Rafa Benitez’ ilk, it’s an unfathomable attitude by the players really. Perhaps, we’re being too quick to judge and it does take time for any manager, including the decorated Benitez, to make an impact. It remains to be seen whether the Magpies show any guts and grit down the stretch.

In any event, the clash with Man City looms large. It’s going to be a tough ask for the Magpies to take any points off the Citizens really, even with home advantage going for them. Hence, they are the whopping +525 bet at Pinnacle to win outright and, even, the draw is put appropriately out of reach at +350 at bet365.

The Magpies might have shipped three goals into Swansea’s net en route to the win, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was not only their first win in their last eight Premier League fixtures overall (home and away) and first clean sheet since a 1-0 win over West Bromwich in early February. Home form might strike more promising with just two defeats in their last seven fixtures, but pitted against the surging Citizen, riding a five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, it’s another matter entirely. Simply put, we can’t look past an away win here and, as such, we’re backing the Citizens on our soccer picks at their fair price of -163 available with bet365 to win outright.

Liverpool vs. Everton
After pulling off the stunning upset over Borussia Dortmund at Anfield stadium, marking the most memorable European night in Liverpool club history in the eyes of many soccer bettors, the Reds traipsed to a 2-1 win over AFC Bournemouth on the away. The win marked their second straight win in Premier League, third straight undefeated account. That rich vein of form is underscored by a 1-1 draw with Tottenham and a 4-1 win over Stoke City. Quite rightly, therefore, the Reds are firm favourites at home when they take on neighbours Everton in a highly anticipated Merseyside derby. As it is, Liverpool are odds-on faves at -138 at Bookmaker, the best price available at the time of writing.

The last three consecutive instalments of the Merseyside derby resulted in draws and six of the last seven served up draws, with the only exception being a 4-0 win by Liverpool two years ago – the draw bet is available at +315 soccer odds at Pinnacle. That distinct trend makes a good case to put up the draw here for your soccer picks. However, this is a different team under Jurgen Klopp now, and the way the Reds are playing one has to believe they’ll be going for all three points at Anfield Stadium. What’s more, Everton’s season is practically a write off with just a handful of games left and, more importantly, they have an FA Cup final to look ahead to this weekend with Man United, something that’s going to take precedence you’d think over a Premier League match that bears no significance towards their middling domestic fortunes down the stretch.

Man United vs. Crystal Palace
After the complete and utter collapse at White Hart Lane, Manchester United bounced back with a beat down of hapless Aston Villa. Well, it wasn’t so much of a beat down as the market expected with the Red Devils eking out the measly 1-0 win over Villa. After a string of results at Villa’s expense that had more the look of tennis sets rather than soccer matches, one wonders what the deal with Man United really is? In spite of Man United’s worrying offense, they are installed as the runaway favourites to win outright at -175 at William Hill. Granted they have home advantage and should win this fixture, but there are those soccer bettors that might consider Man United not worth the tickle at such short prices.

On the flipside, Crystal Palace’s chances to mastermind the upset are aptly deemed slim –they are priced against-odds of +625 at Pinnacle. Yet, they’ve shown some spunk down the stretch, which has us thinking the market might be dismissing Palace prematurely. Only recently they held the Hammers to 2-2 draw at Boleyn Ground and a served up a 1-1 draw to Arsenal at the Emirates. Oh, lest everyone’s forgotten too, they beat the Spurs 1-0 at White Hart Lane in FA Cup earlier this season. It’s also worth noting that Palace held Man U to a scoreless draw at Selhurst Park this term.

All in all, we’re not brave enough to serve up the complete upset with Crystal Palace at +625 to win outright at the Old Trafford, but we won’t be as surprised as some might be if they do actually pull off the feat. Let’s face it, Man United aren’t infallible this season and they’ve had their fair share of results that left soccer bettors gobsmacked.

We’re of the mind though to serve up Crystal Palace to win or draw at +160 at Bet365. It’s also worth noting that the draw no bet on Crystal Palace is a tempting +350 at bet365.

Arsenal vs. West Brom
Arsenal’s title prospects are essentially over, but, worryingly, their claim on a Top 4 spot is in serious jeopardy as they suffered a second straight draw. Leaking points to West Ham United and Crystal Palace in the last two rounds, Arsene Wenger’s side slips to fourth place in the table but they are level on points with Man City. In no uncertain terms this is a must-win game for Arsenal if they hope to keep their lofty prospects for a spot in Champions League next season alive. West Bromwich are riding a string off poor results – one draw and back-to-back losses ahead of their date at the Emirates – which does take the shine off of their chances to heap more misery on Arsenal. Then again, consensus betting polls reveal an intriguing public trend: soccer bettors are all over West Bromwich with 51.5 % of bets coming down the wire going towards the upset at the Emirates. That’s a tempting soccer pick trading at +1200 at Intertops.

While it’s a long shot bet for your soccer picks, it does speak to a dramatic loss of faith in the Gunners amongst soccer bettors. Then there’s also the fact that the Baggies did pull off the upset over Arsenal at The Hawthorns earlier this season, winning 2-1 to the chagrin of Arsene Wenger. Perhaps, it’s worth the small tickle then. Admittedly, the safer bet would be to a West Bromwich win or draw at +330 soccer odds or thereabouts, but that’s a huge pay cut compared to the outright win. Fortune favours the brave, so they say.
