Newcastle Utd vs. Aston Villa
I really don't think that I've seen a worse bunch of Premier League set of fixtures all season, and for me the Christmas nightmare starts with the Saturday live match from St James' Park where strugglers Newcastle host bottom of the table Aston Villa.

I'm really not feeling any festive cheer from this match, and I'm seriously contemplating an under 2.5 goals accumulator and a few soccer picks on no goalscorer this week to get me some extra money in for the last minute presents, and finally get me in the Christmas spirit.

Newcastle are a very short price favorite to win this at just 2.05 with William Hill, and with two wins in their last two matches against very tough opposition in Liverpool and Tottenham, many will see that price and think it's too good to be true against a Villa side who have just one win the Premier League all season.

I think I will have to give up the betting game the minute I part with my cash on Steve McClaren's side at 2.05, and even with how impressive they've been in the last couple of weeks, they are always a match away from a meltdown, and this could be that match.

Villa, though, well, they can't be trusted either at the 4.10 with BetVictor to finally give new boss Remi Garde a much needed first win in charge of the Premier League strugglers.

Their sole success was on the opening day, of what has been a disaster of a season, at Bournemouth, and with no wins in their last nine on Tyneside, they can't be backed with any confidence either.

Many are talking about Villa in unglowing terms, with many betting that they will register the lowest ever Premier League points tally, and on what we've seen so far, it's hard to disagree.

The Picks
This Christmas period is always one where people show their generosity, but I can't see either defense being in the giving mood on Saturday evening, and I really like the under 2.5 goals market, which is available at 1.80 with the majority of the layers.

The visitors haven't replaced this goals from Christian Benteke's this season, and their tally of just 13 is the lowest of all the clubs in the Premier League, and I will be very surprised if they can add to that on Saturday.

Their strike partnership of Rudy Gestede and Gabriel Agbonhlahor are are Championship duo at best and they won't be troubling the home side at all in this one.

I'm not going to make many friends with my previews this week but, I just can't help myself in taking a bit of the under 1.5 goals in the match as well at 3.40 with Betfred, as if we get a goal, which is a big IF, then it should be enough to win this.

This is going to be a common theme this week but, at 11.0 in the soccer odds board, I can't help myself not get involved in a small wager on no goalscorer as both teams would be delighted to head into Christmas with a point from this one.
