MLS will play a quartet of midweek matches this Wednesday, including a Yankee Stadium showdown between NYCFC and Juan and the New England Revolution with both clubs in a spot where they could really use a win and the three points. Let’s handicap that one as well as the Orlando City-DC United affair and offer up again some hopefully profitable picks for our website readers.

New England Revolution at NYCFC

Yankee Stadium · Wednesday, May 31 · 7:30 pm ET

The lone winless road club in the Eastern Conference (0-2-5, 6 GF-14 GA), the New England Revolution (4-4-5, 21 GF-19 GA) head to the Big Apple to face David Villa (8 goals) and host NYCFC (6-2-5, 23 GF-16 GA) in this midweek MLS fixture. A look at the L5 meetings in this series reveals NE 3-1-1 (8 GF-4 GA) with NYCFC scoring only 1 goal or less in all five meetings and three 'Unders'. Jack Harrison (5 goals), Rodney Wallace (4 goals) and NYCFC have played great soccer in The House That Ruth Built (3-1-1, 11 GF-5 GA at Home) this season with GK Sean Johnson having only allowed 5 goals in 5 games. But Juan Agudelo (6 goals), Lee Nguyen (6 goals), Kei Kamara (3 goals), Diego Fagúndez (2 goals) and the Revs and the hosts could be a bit gassed after a humbling 3-1 loss Sunday in Week 14 play at expansion Atlanta United FC at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dowd Stadium.

DC United at Orlando City SC

Orlando City Stadium · Wednesday, May 31 · 7:30 pm ET

Cyle Larin (7 goals), Kaká (3 goals) and fourth-place Orlando City (6-2-5, 14 GF -18 GA) welcome 10th-place DC United (3-2-7, 18 GF-30 GA) to the new Orlando City Stadium for a big Eastern Conference fixture for both with DCU slipping aways from Postseason positioning and OCSC losing two straight and winless in its L6 (LLDDLL). With Luciano Acosta (5 goals) and DC United so bad away from DC (2-2, 6 GF-9 GA), expect GK Joe Bendik and OCSC to bounce back with a victory and all three points here with the support of the purple-and-gold-clad Sunshine State throng (5-1-1, 10 GF-07 GA). A look at the L5 meetings in this series shows (ORL 4-2 DC, DCU 4-1 ORL, ORL 1-0 DCU, DCU 2-1 ORL, ORL-1 DCU) the Home sides are 4-0-1 (W-D-L), three Overs in the L4 meetings but the Under 2-1 L3 in Florida and 11 goals scored the L2 clashes.

Final Score Prediction: Orlando City SC 2 DC United 0Free MLS Pick: Orlando City -150 at 5Dimes

Real Salt Lake at Houston Dynamo

Saturday, June 3rd · Houston · 8:30 pm ET

With host Houston (6-2-5, 22 GF-20 GA) coming off a scoreless Texas Derby at FC Dallas on Sunday, goals may be scarce in Houston. With the travel and the midweek blahs and all and visitors Yura Movsisyan (4 goals), Albert Rusnák (3 goals) and Real Salt Lake (4-2-8, 12 GF-24 GA) and veteran GK Nick Rimando—a USMNT selection—coming off their own very Under-y 1-0 win in Sandy in MLS Week 14 against the Union. Researching the L5 in this MLS series shows us that RSL is 3-0-2 L5 meetings with the L2 1-0 Unders won Erick Torres (9 goals), Alberth Ellis (5 goals), Ricardo Clark and the Dynamo. RSL is an anemic 1-1-5 on the Road (4 GF-15 GA) and 2-4-6 (6 GF-13 GA) lifetime in Houston in MLS play although has done well in this Western Conference series, going 11-5-8 (32 GF-25 GA) overall against the Dynamo in league play.

Final Score Prediction: Dynamo 1 Real Salt Lake 1MLS Pick: Under 2½ +132 at Bookmaker
