World Cup Qualifying hits the soccer betting floor this week. We look at the CONMEBOL clash between Bolivia and Uruguay and serve up our predictions and soccer picks for your consideration.

Uruguay Distinct Underdogs +210
The first round of world cup qualifying is set to kick off at Hernando Siles in La Paz when hosts Bolivia welcome South American heavyweights, Uruguay.  Despite the visitor’s tradition of success at the world stage (two-time World Cup champions and fourth place finish in 2010), having enjoyed more success on the international stage than their counterparts seems to be a moot point on the sports betting floor as they enter round 1 of FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying action as the decisive +210 underdogs against lowly Bolivia.

Bolivia Favored At Home +140
Hosts Bolivia open as the home favorites, albeit at +140 soccer odds to win outright. According to odds makers, they have the slight advantage, a market stance that is down to the combination of  home advantage and the fact that they are slated to face a watered down Uruguay side in round 1, without it’s two biggest international stars Barcelona’s Luis Suarez and PSG’s Edinson Cavani arriving in La Paz.

Nevertheless, the soccer betting market is rather surprising considering the merit of both teams on the international stage. So Los Charrúas are slated to enter the competition without two of their biggest stars, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani – the pair are serving international suspensions for separate incidents – but Bolivia is a beatable side, all things being considered.

Heck, they are coming off a 7-0 drumming to Argentine in friendly action, a preparatory match for the World Cup qualifiers. In the summer’s Copa America, Bolivia did reach the quarterfinals behind a 1-1-1 mark after beating Ecuador and drawing scoreless with Mexico, but they lost to eventual champions Chile 5-0 in group action and then went on to lose to Peru 3-1 in the quarterfinals.

Soccer Betting Verdict
Understandably, the absence of Suarez and Cavani takes some of the punch out of Uruguay’s offense and goes some way towards explaining why Uruguay are deemed the underdogs in this matchup. It’s a young Uruguay team that is preparing to fly the national flag and carry the burden of expectations in Bolivia. However, Bolivia’s credentials on the soccer stage are hardly renowned.

Uruguay’s prepared for this campaign by playing two friendly matches against Panama and Costa Rica. They won the former and lost the latter by the exact same score line 1-0. Going back to Copa America, Uruguay reached the quarterfinals only to lose 1-0 to eventual champions Chile. During that campaign they were never overwhelmed. All four games hit the UNDER 2.5, with Uruguay never conceding more than a goal. What that means for our soccer pick is that they are quite solid on the defensive side of the ball, which is going to prove invaluable in the absence of their best offensive weapons.

Soccer Pick: Uruguay +210 to win & UNDER 2.5 -175 at Bet365
