These certainly aren't the two "sexiest" Premier League outfits out there, but the action is still going to be intense and there could very well be some attractive soccer betting value out there to exploit.
There's really not much in it when it comes to the soccer odds on offer for this matchup. Burnley is favored, but not my a huge margin or anything - they're currently listed at +150 to get the outright victory on their own pitch. That leaves the visiting Eagles at a pretty nice price of +215 or so at a lot of online sportsbooks.
Days after a much-needed league win over QPR, the Clarets were hoping to carry over that momentum into an FA Cup replay against Spurs. It wasn't mean to be though, as Tottenham stormed back after two early Burnley goals to win 4-2 and advance on to the next round. After such an amazing start, it was only heart break from there for the Clarets.
Burnley's goals were scored by Marvin Sordell and Ross Wallace and they both came within the first eight minutes. It was a dream start for Burnley, but Tottenham kept their nerve and fought their way back in front of their faithful fans inside White Hart Lane. Eliminated from the cup now, the Clarets will turn their full attention to surviving relegation from the Premier League.
If the season were to end today, Burnley would be participating in the top flight next season, as they're in 17th place. That being said, we've got a long way to go, and the Clarets are only a point above the relegation zone, meaning each and every league match from here on out is of the utmost importance.
Like Burnley, Crystal Palace recently took on Tottenham, only the Eagles were able to record a terrific 2-1 win at home. Goals were scored by Dwight Gayle and Jason Puncheon, with Gayle's coming from the penalty spot in the 69th minute and Puncheon's winner delighting the home crowd in the 80th minute.
The Eagles have now gone unbeaten over their previous four matches across all competitions, which includes a straightforward cup victory over Dover. They can be found in 15th place in the Premier League standings right now, and you'd think that would be mean they're relatively safe when it comes to relegation. But that's not the case. Palace is actually tied on points with both Burnley and Sunderland (20 points), so they're also just one point from the dreaded dropdown zone.
As a result, we have two teams that are going to be putting absolutely every ounce of energy they have into this match, knowing a single point could end up being the difference between playing in the Premier League and playing in the Championship next season. Motivations are going to be sky high here. Momentum is on Palace's side after a good run of form, but it's certainly not going to be easy against the equally desperate Clarets.
This pick is all about the perceived value that we on the soccer betting odds board.
Playing at home is always a big advantage in the world of soccer, but Crystal Palace is the better team in our estimation, so getting them at a nice, plump price is all the more appealing. We think the Eagles are well worth taking in this spot, as they've built up some momentum after an impressive unbeaten run. They've got guys like Bolasie that can take over a match, and that should hold them in good stead here.
So, since we're getting Palace at over a +200 price, we're going to add the "underdogs" to our soccer picks. Let's back the Eagles, who always seem to have a great traveling support, with our soccer picks this weekend.
Pick: Burnley 1 Crystal Palace 2
