After a great start to their campaign, the Aston Villa Villans are soccer betting underdogs at home to the Tottenham Spurs this weekend, after dropping five straight matches across all competitions.

Odds Overview
The Villans are at home, but that hasn't made much of a difference in the eyes of oddsmakers, who have priced the hosts as +275 to +300 underdogs on soccer odds.

Tottenham will therefore enter Sunday's match as a favorite, with sportsbooks throwing out lines in and around the +100 to +115 mark. A draw is available at just over +250.

Aston Villa
If we look back at the start of the season, Villa was actually performing at a high level. The Villans opened with three wins and a draw in their first five fixtures, and that included victories over Liverpool, Stoke City and Hull City. The draw came at home to Newcastle.

Since that famous away win at Anfield, however, Aston Villa has fallen off a cliff, having lost five consecutive matches.

What's even worse? The Villans have failed to score a single goal during that span, getting outscored 13-0 through the five defeats. Sure, they had to deal with some very tough competition in the form of Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton, but then they went out and lost 2-0 away to lowly QPR.

Whatever the case, Aston Villa now finds themselves in 15th place in the Premier League and holding a goal differential of minus 10. Their schedule will be easier now that they've gotten through a daunting spell, but as we've learned, nothing is guaranteed in this league.

Nevertheless, the Villans must be ecstatic to have Christian Benteke back and healthy again. It may take some time for him to regain his full fitness and to start firing on all cylinders, but his presence alone is a huge lift to the club. We'll have to see if he can give Tottenham trouble on Sunday.

Well, Spurs has been able to stamp out some victories lately, but the consistency to their performances have left a lot to be desired.

Heading into the weekend, Tottenham has alternated wins and losses over their last five matches. They've picked up a win in the Premier League, Europa League and the Capital One Cup, while falling to Manchester City away and Newcastle at home in league play.

We last saw Spurs in action on Wednesday in a 2-0 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion in cup competition. Erik Lamela and Harry Kane both found the back of the net in the win.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino opted to field a second-choice starting XI, and he had to have been worried until Lamela put Spurs up 10 minutes into the second half. The gamble paid off, as now many of Tottenham's standout players, including Christian Eriksen, will be rested for Sunday.

So far, Spurs have picked up one win, two draws and a loss in four away Premier League matches this term. They have managed to get a goal in each of those matches, and will fancy their chances of keeping that streak alive against the struggling Villans.

Premier League Pick
Though form is most certainly not on their side right now, we think the best soccer betting value lies with Villa at home this weekend.

For one, Tottenham simply hasn't looked convincing as of late, and we don't trust them at this point in time to coast to a win against the Villans.

And, on the other side of the spectrum, we don't think Paul Lambert's team is as bad as they've been showing. Benteke is back and that should provide a huge boost to Villa, whom we believe will end their winless streak this Sunday. Add the Villans at a very attractive underdog price to your soccer picks for the weekend.
