Premier League Football Tips: Man City vs. Fulham
Before we talk about this match we have to talk about the table, City are seven points and three goals worse off than Manchester United and the bookies have them at 3/1 to win the league, by comparison Manchester United are 2/7 and third placed Chelsea, who squandered a two-goal lead against Southampton midweek are 25/1. Those of you can't do the maths that quite simply means that Manchester United will likely be crowned EPL champions this season, but that's no reason for Manchester City to rollover and let them run away with the lead as there are still 16 games left to play (the first of which is Fulham).
Enough with the EPL Trophy news…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?
I don't think that Manchester city will have much to worry about when they host a side who are 11 places and 23 points behind them in the league. Fulham doesn’t look like they are in much danger of being relegated, although my patented rule of six could see them drop behind low the dreaded dotted line but I think for them can content themselves that there are at the very least three sides who will fare worse in the Premier league than them this season. As an aside Fulham are 16/1 on the Premier League odds to be relegated and 11/4 to finish in the top 10.
Home is where the points are
Looking at City’s home form in the league they won 10 drawn two and lost just once, clearly the second best home record in the Premier League behind Manchester United who have 10 wins and one defeat from their 11 home games this season. What's more Manchester City have scored 25 goals at home and conceded just nine. That all points towards a City win which is offered up with the bookies at 2/7 and a solid sports pick.
Fulham have hardly impressed on their travels this season out of 11 games they've only garnered 10 points with two victories for drawers and five defeats. If a draw, something offered up by the bookies at 5/1 is the best that they can hope for they'd have to do something about the way they conceded goals on their travels they've let in 23 and scored just 15. Only three sides have a leaky defence away from home than Fulham and that is Southampton, Newcastle and relegation zone botherer Aston Villa.
Fulham have won just twice in their last five games and one of them, their most recent victory was an extra time win in the FA Cup replay against Blackpool on Tuesday night. Hardly the sort of form or result that would strike fear into the heart of the Premier league title holders.
This game should be a City win, although a Fulham win is available at 12/1 but that tells you how likely the bookies think it is.
A word to the wise
Don't bet on a 0-0 draw as there has only been worn a clean sheet in the last 17 meetings between these sides. That came in this fixture last season almost a month to the day where city ran out 3-0 winners. I be very tempted to back a repeat of that score but looking at the last five head-to-head meetings between these two clubs, which has three wins the City and two draws in the mix the score that really caught my eye was city's 4-1 victory over Fulham back in November 2010 at 18/1.
But it makes a lot more sense to back Bity winning to nil for my football betting, as they have kept a clean sheet in their last three games.
