Football Betting Tips: Malaga vs. Barca

Roll up, roll up! For most predictable show in the world, when champions elect, Barcelona take on some other side from Spain's La Liga, it doesn't really matter which one, but for the record its Malaga.

There's been plenty written about Barcelona and their stranglehold on the Spanish top flight this season, and much of it has already been written by your humble handicapper . That doesn't mean that a betting preview of the match between Malaga and Barcelona shouldn't include some of the obvious audits for “the greatest team on earth”.

Barcelona are a ridiculous 1/33 with the bookmakers to win Spanish top flight this season and if those aren't emphatic enough you should know that the second most favoured team, Real Madrid are 35/1 with the same bookies to regain their trophy, not that it matters. Barcelona are in a completely different league to the teams that they share a league with. The bookmakers have refused to take any further bets on Barcelona finishing in the top six and you'd also be very lucky to find anybody that would give you odds on them finishing in the top three of Spain's top flight, and even if you did I'd be very suspicious of whatever money you got when the inevitable happened. As an aside Barcelona are 9/4 favourites to win the Champions League and their Argentinian superstar Leonel messy is a Dillard's bet of 1/19 to be the Spanish league's top scorer.

Enough with the Barcelona and Messi odds…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Mrs. Richardson may not be the mathematician in the family but she knows enough about math to know that betting on Barcelona or Messi in pretty much any competition won't make you rich, or put nice shiny high heeled shoes on her feet. Therefore you have to look a little bit deeper to try and find a Barcelona related wager that that'll give you some cash back for your sports picks!

Up comes a Malaga side in a real contention for a top four finish in Spain's letter leader this season. Malaga are currently fourth in the league after 18 games, but while they are highly unlikely to worry 52 points Barcelona they have three sides within three points of them further down the league. You could say this is a game that Malaga should win to help them on their way to a champions league spot, but Barcelona look like an all-conquering juggernaut at present.

When a juggernaut meets pretty much anything else you should always bet on the juggernaut that's why I'm backing a Barcelona victory which is offered up by the bookmakers at 2/5. If you think that's just for the sake of it Barcelona have to lose a game sooner or later and you might as well back Malaga as any other team to do it. You can get soccer betting odds as high as 7/1 betting on a real upset. I'd stay away from possible draw at 7/2 as that is neither exciting enough to impress any ladies who have their heads turned by silly bets nor likely enough to happen.

As is so often the way with Barcelona, the only way to really make any money out of them in the league is to bet on the correct score. If you think you can get money from predicting just the manner of Barcelona's victory you should know that the champions elect winning both halves is offered up at an uninspiring 11/10 with bet365 or 4/5 with Tote Sport.

It's all just a little bit of history repeating

Barcelona scored four goals in their last league game against Espanyol. So, you might be very tempted to back 4-0 to the away side which is offered up by the bookmark at a reasonable 18/1 for your football betting on this one. Although I am more tempted by the slightly less tempting 16/1 which is offered up by several bookmakers for Barcelona winning 4-1.

Why that score? I hear you ask, quite simply it because Barcelona are that good and both of the last meeting between these sides have ended by that score. In fact Barcelona have beaten Malaga 4-1 three times out of the last five, they've been victorious five times in the last five and Malaga have scored a single solitary goal five times out of the last five meetings.

Therefore it should come as no surprise to you that I'm backing another four – one victory, although for the sake of Mrs Richardson and her shoe fund I shall be having a side bet on both 3-1 and 5-1 at 10/1 and 33/1 respectively just in case.

Football Betting Tips: Barcelona win, obviously, but by a four – one scoreline which is available at the very best odds of 18/1 with bet 365.

Elsewhere in La Liga..we have Real Madrid~
